Synopsis
En été, Julien Morin et d’autres lycéens arrivent à Herne Bay, station balnéaire du Kent, pour y passer un séjour linguistique d’un mois. Les garçons fréquentent plus les établissements de machines à sous que leurs cours et, surtout, courent après les petites Anglaises. Julien entame un flirt platonique avec Janet qui lui préfère bientôt Jean-Pierre, un garçon plus âgé. Sous les quolibets de ses camarades, Julien se prend d’affection pour Jean-Pierre sans toutefois recevoir la même marque d’amitié. Quand il découvre que Jean-Pierre est rentré en France sans lui faire ses adieux, Julien se désespère et va épancher sa peine auprès d’un accompagnateur qui profite de son désarroi pour l’enivrer afin d’abuser de lui. À l’issue de son séjour en Angleterre, Julien retrouve les siens dans la maison de campagne familiale où il se remet, petit à petit, des coups reçus à l’âme et dans sa chair jusqu’à ce qu'arrive le jour de la rentrée scolaire.Actors

Former college classmates Martha Dobie (Shirley MacLaine) and Karen Wright (Audrey Hepburn) open a private school for girls. Martha's Aunt Lily (Miriam Hopkins), an aging actress, lives and teaches elocution at the school. After an engagement of two years to Joe Cardin (James Garner), a reputable obstetrician, Karen finally agrees to set a wedding date. Gia Carangi (Angelina Jolie) is a Philadelphia native who moves to New York City to become a fashion model and immediately catches the attention of powerful agent Wilhelmina Cooper (Faye Dunaway). Gia's attitude and beauty help her rise quickly to the forefront of the modeling industry, but her persistent loneliness after the death of Wilhelmina drives her to experiment with mood-altering drugs like cocaine. She becomes entangled in a passionate affair with Linda (Elizabeth Mitchell), a make-up artist. Their love affair first starts when both pose nude and make love to each other after a photo shoot. However, after a while Linda begins to worry about Gia's drug use and gives her an ultimatum; Gia chooses the drugs. Failed attempts at reconciliation with Linda and with her mother, Kathleen (Mercedes Ruehl), drive Gia to begin abusing heroin. Although she is eventually able to break her drug habit after much effort, she has already contracted HIV from a needle containing infected blood.

In 1963, Ennis Del Mar (Heath Ledger) and Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhaal) are hired by Joe Aguirre (Randy Quaid) to herd his sheep through the summer in the Wyoming mountains.
