Donga Kollu (Telugu: దొంగ కోళ్ళు) is a 1988 Telugu comedy film starring Rajendra Prasad, Sumalatha. It was directed by Vijaya Bapineedu. The movie is a remake of Malayalam movie Sanmanassullavarkku Samadhanam (1986) which was also remade in Hindi as Yeh Teraa Ghar Yeh Meraa Ghar.

Synopsis

Allipilli Anjaneyulu (Rajendra Prasad) wants to sell off his house and clear up the debts. He asks the tenants Neeraja (Sumalatha) along with her mother Tulsamma (Shubha), sister and brother to vacate the house, but they refuse to do so. To get back his house, he does everything from seeking legal advice from Lankela Shankara Rao (Ravi Kondalarao), filing police reports etc.

Gopi (Chiranjeevi) and Mohan Babu are brothers living with their mother in a village. Gopi is youngest brother and educated up to B.Sc. Agriculture and he willing to live in village after marriage, while Mohan Babu is an elder one who is uneducated person. Gopi and Mohan Babu marry at same time, Mohan Babu marries Devi, who is an educated person, while Gopi marries Lalithamba, who is an uneducated girl. Lalithaba prefers to live in city after marriage. Lalithamba and Devi try their level best to shift their house to city but their husbands Gopi and Mohan Babu doesn’t agree. At last Lalithamba and Devi escapes from their house, one night without their husbands knowledge. Lalithamba has one friend Shakuntala, in city. Devi and Lalithamba unable to locate Shakuntala house in city, roaming on streets were caught in the hands of one woman, who attempts to sell them to a brothel house owner Ganga Devi. But their contract does not materalize, and that woman doesn’t sell devi and lalitamba. Angered Ganga Devi sends her persons to brings Lalithaba and Devi. Here Ganga Devi’s persons kill that woman, but could not catch Lalithamba and Devi . But their badluck chases them and Lalithamba and Devi enters Ganga Devi’s house for protection, without knowing her character. But later they understand and plan to escape from there. Meanwhile, lalithamba finds her friend Shakuntala, and with her help lalithamba and Devi tries to escape from there, but Ganga Devi’s persons catches them and locks them in one room. Chiru and Mohan Babu, in search of their wives land in the city to find Devi and Lalithaba and with lots of efforts, they gather information of the whereabouts of their wives. They enters into Ganga Devi house and saves Lalithamba and Devi from her clutches. As usual police arrive after the climax fight and gangadevi is arrested, and these 4 return to their village. Good comedy written and directed by mouli, added with chiru and mohanbabu’s timing make this a good entertainer.

Gopi (Chiranjeevi) is a music master brought up by Satyanarayana and Nutan prasad in a village. He wants to become a police constable. Surya Chandra Rao (Kota Srinivasa Rao) is a rich man in the village with his daughter Radha (Bhanupriya) who is head strong and proud of her riches. In a brawl with Gopi, she seeks revenge and acts as his disciple wanting to learn music and later accuses him of attempting to rape her with the help of new SI of the village Asirayya (Mohan Babu) but later realises her mistake and his good nature and falls in love with him. Though reluctant to marry her, Gopi is convinced to accept her into his life and they marry. Surya Chandra Rao is enraged by this and sends a goon to kill him and in a fight the goon loses and Gopi leaves him at Surya Chandra Rao's house warning him not to enter his life again. The goon is killed by Surya Chandra Rao and Gopi is accused of his murder and is put in jail. The rest of the story forms on how Gopi proves his innocence and how he brings the villains to justice.

The movie starts with a young man Surendra (Chiranjeevi) landing in a town for a job. He witnesses rivalry between two mafia gangs at that place. Krishna Murthy (Rajendra Prasad) is son of industrialist Satyanarayana (Nutan Prasad). Satyanarayana is worried about Krishna Murthy's marriage, so much so that he imagines every young woman who happened to be seen by him as his daughter-in-law. Krishna Murthy meets Padma (Rajani) in his friend's marriage and cupid strikes them. Krishna Murthy is afraid of revealing his love for Padma to his father directly as he fears his father may reject it out rightly. His initial attempts to reveal his love life to his father through letters are thwarted by his butler in fear for Satyanarayana's life. Desperate to reveal the love matter to Satyanarayana, Krishnamurthy then tries various gimmicks and at last is successful. A panicked Satyanarayana inquires about the family background of Padma and finds out that she is the daughter of Lakshmipathy (Kota Srinivasa Rao), a noted miser in his village. Aware of his father's concerns, Krishnamurthy reassures Satyanarayana and lands in Lakshmipathy's house posing as a miser. Krishnamurthy's pretense and pranks beget intended effect in Lakshmipathy and brings him closer to Padma. A marriage proposal from Sudhakar (Subhaleka Sudhakar), who is accompanied by his two glutton brothers much to the chagrin of Lakshmipathy, for Padma ends in Lakshmipathy favoring Krishnamurthy. Elated with the turn of events, Krishnamurthy prepares for marriage with Padma and invites Satyanarayana. However, his plans turn soar as Lakshmipathy, in his greed for money, abuses Krishnamurthy assuming that he is from poor family, before Satyanarayana confronts Lakshmipathy. A dejected Krishnamurthy requests Satyanarayana to give him one more chance to teach Lakshmipathy a lesson. Krishnamurthy, along with 'aragundu' Brahmanandam (Brahmanandam), a disgruntled butler of Lakshmipathy set about to transform Lakshmipathy. Krishnamurthy tacitly arranges for three different marriage proposals, starting with Sudhakar, with each proposer agreeing to offer more bride price than the earlier proposer. Overcome with greed for money, Lakshmipathy agrees to get her daughter married with each one of them. At the time of marriage with the bridegroom who offered the highest bride price, the other two bridegrooms also appear at the same time and question Lakshmipathy. An embarrassed Lakshmipathy is censured by Padma for his greed.
