The narrator describes the fall of France, leaving Britain almost defenceless. British forces are vastly outnumbered, but the British people are calm. The narrator explains that this is because in a democracy the people as a whole are involved in the decision to fight. Hitler's masterplan to subjugate Britain is described. Hitler begins by attacking convoys and ports, but fails to destroy them. The RAF are outnumbered "6 - 8 - 10 to one", but knock out far more planes than the Germans do. Bailed out British pilots are also able to return to the air, but German pilots are lost. Unlike the Dutch and Polish airforce Britain does not "make the mistake of bunching its planes on the runways"., 1h26

Kopple initially intended to make a film about Kenzie, Miners for Democracy and the attempt to unseat Tony Boyle. When miners at the Brookside Mine in Harlan County, Kentucky went on strike in June 1972, Kopple went there to film the strike against Duke Power Company which the UMWA had helped to organize. The strike proved a more interesting subject, so Kopple switched the focus of her film., 1h31

Michael Moore begins by introducing himself and his family through 8 mm archival home movies; he describes himself as the Irish American Catholic middle-class son of a General Motors employee assembling AC spark plugs. Moore chronicles how GM had previously defined his childhood in Flint, Michigan, and how the company was the primary economic and social hub of the town. He points out that Flint is the place where the Flint Sit-Down Strike occurred, resulting in the birth of the United Auto Workers. He reveals that his heroes were the Flint natives who had escaped the oppressive life in GM's factories, including "Flint's most famous native son," game show host Bob Eubanks., 46minutes

Documentary films about technologyThe new Guillemins station in Liège was a huge project undertaken by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, who had already directed construction of stations in Zurich, Lisbon and Lyon. The site presented many challenges. The film follows the project from start to end over a nine-year period. It documents the issues, frictions and tension of the project as well as the pride and enthusiasm of the people involved. The result was a modern cathedral of European high-speed rail. The project was controversial, being criticized as being too grandiose, too expensive to maintain and not well-adapted to the Belgian climate. In the process many old buildings were destroyed and the whole neighborhood was disrupted.
