Erik Nietzsche, mes années de jeunesse est un film danois réalisé par Jacob Thuesen , sorti en 2007.

Présenté comme une autobiographie du cinéaste Erik Nietzsche, le film est en réalité écrit par Lars von Trier qui, sans raconter directement sa vie d'étudiant, s'en inspire pour traiter avec humour des écoles de cinéma où il a fait ses premières armes.

Synopsis

Erik Nietzsche est un jeune Danois qui rêve de cinéma. Admis par erreur à l'école danoise de cinéma, il est frappé par la compétition nourrie entre les élèves, l'abstraction des cours (la technique n'est pas enseignée en première année) et la nullité de professeurs frustrés et pédants. Au fur et à mesure de déconvenues professionnelles mais aussi sexuelles ou politiques, il fait son apprentissage afin de réussir à s'imposer dans un monde qui n'épargne pas les naïfs.

The film is divided into five days. On the first day the protagonists, screenwriters Lars and Niels lose the only copy of a film script (Kommisæren Og Luderen, "The Policeman and the Whore", a reference to The Element of Crime). They begin to write a new script about an epidemic: the outbreak of a plague-like disease. The protagonist is a doctor, Mesmer, who, against the will of the Faculty of Medicine of an unknown city, goes to the countryside to help people. During the next days, the facts of the script join the real-life events in which a similar disease starts to spread. Lars and Niels go to Germany, where they meet a man who describes the Allied bombing of Cologne during the Second World War.

Carl Hamilton must leave his girlfriend because he gets assigned to infiltrate an international gang of smugglers who are about to sell Swedish missiles to terrorists. Hamilton's life depends on making the criminals at all times believe he was a Russian. When the weapon dealers and the terrorists meet, the whole transaction haywires and Hamilton has to kill and run. Being on his own, he cannot retrieve the missiles. DG persuades him not to give himself up and sends him abroad to rescue a Swedish technician who seems to be involved in the matter of the smuggled Swedish missiles. But a Western agency for mercenaries named Sectragon plans to kindle a new war as a profitable new business opportunity. They even attempt to assassinate a foreign head of state in Sweden. Hamilton can confound their scheme. Finally he visits the inspector who investigates the death of his late girlfriend. He comes clear but also tells her to drop the case. Hamilton must keep on doing his job because it is just... In the interest of the nation.
