Brian McKnight (né le 5 juin 1969 à Buffalo, New York) est un chanteur, parolier, producteur de pop musique et de R&B américain. Il joue également du piano, de la guitare, et de la guitare basse.
L'album Anytime, sorti en 1997, le fait connaître du grand public avec notamment un tube de Diane Warren "Show Me The Way Back To Your Heart). La même année, il interprète l'hymne national au All Star Game de Basket, une prestation mémorable, sous les yeux de Michael Jordan, visiblement ému.

Sa carrière musicale est influencée par son enfance pendant laquelle il est membre d’un chœur religieux et d’un groupe à l’école. Encouragé par le groupe de son frère ainé Claude Take 6, il envoie une maquette et signe son premier contrat à l’âge de 19 ans avec Mercury avec qui il publiera trois albums. Davis's character, William "Bill" Dekker, is a newly divorced swinger who goes to work for an attorney (Feldshuh) as an investigator. His assignments have him tracking down divorced men who have reneged on their alimony and child-support payments, a twist of irony considering not only his chauvinistic tendencies but also the fact that he is himself relying on the money he receives from his assignments to cover his own alimony payments. The film takes its title from the song of the same name, which can be heard over the opening credits.

In the 1970s, Black Dynamite, a Vietnam War veteran and former CIA officer, vows to clean up the streets of drug dealers and gangsters after his younger brother Jimmy is killed by a shady organization. O'Leary, Black Dynamite's former army and CIA partner, reinstates him into the agency because they do not want him seeking vengeance by himself. While trying to get to the bottom of Jimmy's murder, he finds out that his brother was actually working undercover for the CIA. Black Dynamite also discovers the shady organization is filling the black orphanages with heroin. He declares war on local drug dealers and successfully cleans up the streets, earning him the affection of Gloria, a black power activist who works at the local orphanage.

Ebony Scrooge (Williams) is one of the world's most successful pop singers. With her cold-hearted soul and nasty attitude, she lacks a great deal of holiday cheer and makes her band and manager anything but happy. While in New York for a charity concert, Ebony (who was once part of the 1980s trio "Desire") is visited by one of her former singing partners (who died in a car crash), Marli Jacob (Thomas). She tells Ebony that she was unhappy with her for willingly abandoning her that lead to her drug addiction and eventual death. Because of it, Marli is still earthbound and in chains. She warns Ebony of the same fate if she doesn't change her life soon. Marli tells her that she will be visited by three spirits—Ghost of Christmas Past, Ghost of Christmas Present, and Ghost of Christmas Future—who will hopefully turn Ebony's life around.

Monty James (Idris Elba) is a respected and hard-working mechanic who has three daughters: China (China Anne McClain), Lauryn (Lauryn Alisa McClain), and Sierra (Sierra Aylina McClain). He has dreams of owning his own shop someday. Monty's children have been cared for by their maternal grandmother for many years. However, he realizes she is dying from lung cancer and she dies within a few weeks.
