Ushanandini is an Indian film actress in South Indian movies. She was a prominent lead actress during the 1970s in Malayalam films. She had acted in few Tamil films as well.

Biography

Ushanandini is born as Usha Baby to K. G. Raman Pilla and Saraswathiyamma, in 1951 at Kaleshwarem, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree. She made her Malayalam debut in 1967 with Aval, which was a great success at box office. She had acted as heroine to Sivaji Ganesan in Rajapart Rangadurai and Gauravam Tamil movies. Nagarame Nandi, Olavum Theeravum, Aa Chithrasalabham Parannotte are the few among important characters she played.

Shankar(Jaishankar) returns from abroad after successfully completing his higher studies. Shankar's parents plan to marry off Shankar to one of their relative's daughter. A series of comic incidents while they try to convince Shankar to marry. Things get serious when Shankar reveals to them that he already met the love of his life, Usha(Ushanandini) and married her. Angered by this, his father throws him out of his house and Usha joins with Shankar to start a new life.

Veteran lawyer Rajinikanth(Shivaji Ganeshan) has never lost a case in the court. He is a self made man with a rags to riches story. Thathachari (Neelu) narrates a small anecdote of Sultan Muhammad bin Tughluq emphasizing on how the king had an arrogant attitude, indifferent view towards his kingdom and subjects, how he treated his guests and also the kind of plans he introduced that backfired. When his son Rangachari (Rajagopal) goes on a mission to research on Tughluq, he finds a buried coffin that contains Thugluq (Cho), and his accomplice Ibn Batuta (Peeli Sivam) alive inside. They claim that they are the true Thugluq and Batuta buried several centuries ago along with a herb that has protected them and kept them alive until 1968 A.D. (the present year of the film)
