Synopsis
Stebbi est un étudiant qui, après d'une soirée alcoolisée dans une discothèque de Reykjavik, se réveille le lendemain dans une cellule d'un poste de police. Accusé d’agression à main armée et convoqué à comparaître pour ces faits devant un tribunal, il reconnaît en sortant du commissariat un ami d'enfance, Tóti. Après avoir échangé quelques souvenirs d'enfance, Tóti, impliqué dans la pègre locale, lui assure qu'en échange d'un petit service il lui fera bénéficier de l'aide de son talentueux avocat pour son procès. Stebbi finit par le rappeler quelques jours plus tard pour accepter cet échange de bons procédés.Comments

Une femme se suicide dans une église à Ísafjörður. Selon le psychiatre Freyr (Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson), cette femme a souffert par la disparition de son fils de huit ans il y a trois ans. Freyr, lui-même, a perdu son fils disparu, dont son ex-femme est toujours à la recherche. Au même moment, le couple Garðar (Thor Kristjansson) et Katrín (Anna Gunndís Guðmundsdóttir) ainsi que leur amie Líf (Ágústa Eva Erlendsdóttir) qui souhaite faire le deuil de son mari s’installent dans une maison abandonnée, qu’ils la rénovent, dans un petit village perdu à Hesteyri à l'ouest de l'Islande. Ces derniers découvrent que leur maison est hantée, et Katrín voit le corps d’un enfant disparu soixante ans plus tôt.

A voice-over by RD (Anil Kapoor) introduces the four main characters: Ranvir Singh (Saif Ali Khan) who runs a successful business he inherited from his father. His younger brother Rajiv Singh (Akshaye Khanna) who mooches off of Ranvir and is an alcoholic. Ranvir is dating an upcoming model Sonia (Bipasha Basu), while his personal assistant Sophia (Katrina Kaif) appears to be secretly in love with him. Ranvir is also involved in an intense competition with a rival horse-owner Kabir (Dilip Tahil). The film opens with a murder plot involving a car accident which Ranvir narrowly survives. When Ranvir loses money in a race because his jockey had been bribed by Kabir, Ranvir plants a bomb in the jockey's car and kills him, showing Ranvir to be a ruthless businessman.

Lara Brennan (Elizabeth Banks) is convicted of murdering her boss and is sentenced to life in prison. Two crime lords, Virgil Vadalos (Berenger), a wealthy Greek mafia boss and an MS-13 leader meet in a bathhouse to discuss business. Partis en voyage de noces, les jeunes mariés sont poursuivis par la jeune femme délaissée, dans leurs étapes successives, jusqu'en Égypte, où ils séjournent dans un hôtel où se trouve également Poirot, qui pressent une situation dramatique. Ce dernier, les jeunes mariés et leur poursuivante, ainsi que divers clients « aisés » de l'hôtel se retrouvent fortuitement pour faire une croisière à bord du vapeur S. S. Karnak… Jusqu'au jour où Linnet est retrouvée assassinée. La suspecte la plus probable, Jacqueline, qui nourrissait une grande haine envers celle-ci, est pourtant une des seules personnes à avoir un alibi inattaquable. Mais Hercule Poirot n'est pas dupe et ses « cellules grises »vont mettre à mal tous les alibis et révéler une machination diabolique.

The film, set in California, opens with Cosmo Vittelli (Ben Gazzara) making the final payment on a longstanding gambling debt to a sleazy loanshark (played by the film's producer Al Ruban). To celebrate his long-anticipated freedom, burlesque club owner Vittelli has an expensive night out with his three favorite dancers ("Margo", "Rachael" and "Sherry"). The evening culminates in a poker game in which Vittelli loses $23,000, returning him to the debtor's position he had just left. Using the debt as leverage, his mob creditors coerce him into agreeing to perform a "hit" on a rival. Vittelli is led to believe that his target is a small-time criminal of minor consequence, the Chinese bookie of the film's title; but in fact, he is the boss of the Chinese mafia, "the heaviest cat on the West Coast." Vittelli manages to kill the man and several of his bodyguards, but is severely wounded before escaping.

The film opens in Saigon at the height of the Vietnam War. John Converse (Moriarty), a disillusioned war correspondent, approaches Ray Hicks (Nolte), a merchant marine sailor and acquaintance of Converse's from the US, for help in smuggling a large quantity of heroin from Vietnam to San Francisco, where he will exchange the drugs for payment with Converse's wife Marge (Weld), who has become addicted to Dilaudid. When Hicks discovers he is being followed by thugs connected either to Converse or his suppliers, he goes on the run with Marge and the heroin, and is eventually pursued by the corrupt DEA agent (Zerbe), who initially set the deal in motion. As Marge is separated from her supply of prescription drugs, she experiences withdrawal, and Hicks decides to help her wean off her dilaudid addiction by using the heroin. Hicks also attempts to find another buyer for the heroin before his pursuers can catch up to him.
