Synopsis
Emotionally devastated by the death of his uncle, Boston carpenter Jack O'Toole (McIntyre) writes a play inspired by the man's wake. When nobody will produce the play, Jack quits his job to produce it himself, imagining that this play will give a new start to the strained relationship Jack has with his father. But the only stage Jack can afford is in the back room of a neighborhood pub. In this humble environment, Jack pulls together a theater company of sorts and brings his story to the stage, and in the process he brings together his family and friends and helps them move beyond their loss.Actors

The film begins in Manhattan with Will Atenton (Daniel Craig) leaving his job as a successful editor in the city in order to spend more time in the suburbs with his wife, Libby (Rachel Weisz), and their two daughters and write a book. At first, they appear to be living the American dream in an idyllic small-town home they have just moved into. Joanne, a fashion photographer, helps her friend, Lane Daniels (Hilary Duff), an aspiring writer, get in to see Kate White, primary editor at Cosmopolitan Magazine, to pitch a story idea - which doesn't go well. On the way out the door, Kate and Lane discuss how hard it is to find a good man, which leads to Kate assigning Lane the task of joining the business world to find a man amongst all those eligible 'downtown' bachelors, and writing an article about that. Amar Kant Varma (Shahrukh Khan) is a Program executive for All India Radio. He is dispatched from New Delhi to cover festivities in Northeast India. On his way there, during a rainy night, Amar stops at Haflong train station to catch Baraks Valley express, as the train runs late, Amar meets a mysterious woman by herself who asks him for a cup of tea. Nick Flynn (Dano) is an aspiring writer who works at a homeless shelter where his estranged father Jonathan (De Niro) is a client.
