Synopsis

Set in 1978 Chicago, Roll Bounce tells the story of a boy named Xavier (Bow Wow) (nicknamed "X") whose mother has passed, leaving him with his father, Curtis (Chi McBride) and his sister, Sonya. After the local roller rink closes down, X and his friends are forced to skate in the ritzy uptown rink "Sweetwater". Tired of being disrespected by the skate rental distributor (Nick Cannon) and other skaters at Sweetwater, the group enters a roller disco contest. A talented but very troubled young dancer tries to turn her life around by focusing on her one true passion, Dancing and trains a young crew to compete against one of the best dance crews in the country in this sequel from original Honey director Bille Woodruff. But temptation soon shows up in the form of Maria's ex-boyfriend Luis, the leader of the 718 crew, and a fierce dancer who doesn't take competition lightly. Recognizing her one chance to break free of Luis' influence and stay positive, Maria joins the HD's and prepares to go toe-to-toe with reigning champs the 718's on national television. If Maria and her new crew can just come out on top, she'll finally be able to cut her ties from the past, and follow in the footsteps of her idol Honey.

Sid (John Raitt) has just been hired as superintendent of the Sleeptite Pajama Factory in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He soon falls for Babe (Doris Day), a worker in the factory and member of the employee union's leadership. At the company picnic they become a couple, but Babe worries that their roles in management and labor will drive them apart. She is correct. The union is pushing for a raise of seven-and-one-half cents per hour to bring them in line with the industry standard, but the factory's manager is giving them a runaround. In retaliation, the workers pull a slow-down and deliberately foul up the pajamas, but when Babe actually sabotages some machinery, Sid fires her.
