Stiffy is a 2005 short film directed by Jacqueline Wright and written by and starring Alice Lowe. It also stars Steve Oram and James Bachman. "Stiffy" subverts the taboo of necrophilia by depicting a hospital orderly falling in love with a corpse and then courting it with old-fashioned romance.

"Stiffy" was one of the winners of "Straight 8", a competition which states that all entries must be filmed on 8 mm, with single takes for each shot and no editing. "Stiffy" was screened at the Cannes Film Festival 2005.

Chris (Steve Oram) is a caravan fan and aspiring writer who takes his girlfriend Tina (Alice Lowe) on a road trip, much to the chagrin of Tina's mother (Eileen Davies), who has never forgiven Tina for the death of their dog "Poppy". At their first stop, a tramway museum (filmed at Crich Tramway Village, the home of the National Tramway Museum), Chris confronts a man (Tony Way) who is littering, and the man refuses to pick up his rubbish. When they get back to their car, Chris runs him over and kills him, which upsets the couple but they continue onward on their trip. Film archivist David has been having a rough time lately, as he suspects that his wife Alice has been cheating on him with Alex, one of her work clients. This stress is compounded when David's work partner Claire gives him a reel of to-be-archived footage that shows that his house was the setting for a brutal murder in 1902. David's fears are confirmed when he follows Alice after work and sees her have sex with Alex. Devastated, David grabs a hammer but, coming to his senses, throws it in a nearby canal. Feeling sick, he rushes to a nearby public bathroom that his son Billy believes to be haunted, where he vomits. A creepy voice whispers unintelligibly to him, and before passing out, David sees what he believes to be a ghostly figure murder his wife.

The Hamilton family move into a large country house on the Yorkshire Moors to supervise its restoration from a dilapidated B&B to the original Victorian grandeur. When Meg Hamilton, wife, mother and renovation expert loses first her London renovation team after an accident, then a local Yorkshire team too superstitious to continue, she’s forced to carry on alone. The discovery of a secret attic room, a Rosicrucian mosaic, a bricked up root cellar and many other unexplainable events gradually convince Meg, her husband Alec and children Penny and Harper, that they’re not only restoring the house, but also its original Victorian owners who died 150 years ago. But before they can escape, the house - and its former occupants - force them to spend one last, terrifying night under its roof.
