The film stars Kal Penn, Claudia Lee, Kenny Wormald, Toby Hemingway, Luke Baines, Miranda Rae Mayo, Katharine Isabelle and Mitch Pileggi. Filming began in April 2015 in Victoria, British Columbia. It was an official selection at Toronto International Film Festival 2015 in the Midnight Madness category.
The Girl in the Photographs is the last film Wes Craven produced before his death on August 30, 2015.

Max Matheson (Nick Stahl) is involved in a car accident that kills his fiancée, Kayla (Jennifer Sipes). On October 21, 1994, Harlan Diehl (Luke Bonczyk) murders his family at their farmhouse and he is shot by the police, as he kills his sister. The tragedy leaves behind video footage which he had taped and his sister's baby who lives. Fifteen years later in Marshall, Michigan, an ambitious high school student Julian Miller (Johnny Pacar), is tasked with completing a film assignment on forgotten local stories for journalism class. Choosing the Harlan Diehl case, though it goes against the wishes of his mother, Anne Miller (Lisa Jane Todd), he selects his girlfriend, Riley (Ambyr Childers), to be his project partner, and borrows camera equipment and archive footage from his reserved former coworker at a video store, Quinn (Toby Hemingway), who has since become a news station cataloger. He also recruits his fun-loving friends, DeeDee Baker (Jennifer Missoni), Nate (Jonathan Keltz), and Brianna Baker (Alessandra Torresani) to re-enact the murder scene, allowing him to produce a gory slasher movie.

After the events of the first film, Brigitte Fitzgerald uses monkshood extract to fight the effects of the lycanthropy that transformed her sister into a werewolf. Brigitte shaves her body, cuts her arm with a scalpel, and logs the data about her healing ability. Ginger, her dead sister, appears as an apparition and warns her that monkshood is only a treatment, not a cure. After Brigitte injects a second dose of monkshood, she senses the presence of a male werewolf that has been stalking her. She quickly packs and open the door, only to find Jeremy, a flirtatious librarian who has brought to her several books she attempted to check out earlier. The second injection causes toxic shock, and Jeremy attempts to bring her to the hospital; however, the male werewolf mauls him to death. Brigitte stumbles down the street and collapses in the snow.

Teddy wakes up from a night of binge drinking. His wedding band is missing, and his fist is bloodied. When he cannot find his wife, Molly, he visits his mother-in-law's house.
