Synopsis
Old ranch hand Frank Osorio (Luppi) travels from Patagonia to Buenos Aires to bring the news of his daughter's demise to his granddaughter, Alina (Costa). The film chronicles the week they share at Alina's apartment, the mending of their enstranged relationship and the ultimate truth that Frank has been keeping from her about her father's identity.Actors

Clara Goldstein (Norma Aleandro) is a Jewish woman who places a personal ad in the Buenos Aires newspaper requesting the company of an older Jewish man. Her sole respondent, Raul Ferraro (Federico Luppi) turns out to be a Gentile from Uruguay. Clara at first spurns him, but soon she realizes she needs him: Her brother is coming to visit her from Boston, and she has been lying to him about being in a romantic relationship. Fortunately, Raul goes along with the ruse. Not long after, the couple begin to fall in love.

Two Argentine sisters, Memé and Aneta, are devastated when their mother dies in a fatal car crash. Memé, the elder, is also left lame with one badly scarred leg. In the summer of 1928, seven inmates from the National Penitentiary in Buenos Aires manage to escape by tunneling their way out of prison and into a coal store run by an old couple. The old woman dies of a heart attack and the escapees flee the place. The film narrates the fate of each of these runaways in search of their destiny - tough men with their own ethical codes and ready to do anything not to return to prison - through flashbacks and separate, sometimes interconnecting, stories.

Cleopatra (Aleandro) is an aged school teacher who struggles to maintain her unemployed husband (Alterio), who suffers from depression and leads a resigned life. Siblings Malena (Ruth Díaz) and Pablo (Javier Pereira) have decided to set out on a road trip to allow Pablo to discover more about their father, who is on life support. Their destination is the old family home in Argentina and initially the trip is fairly mundane. This all changes when Pablo discovers an old journal hidden within their car. The journal details a series of gruesome crimes and Pablo pushes for the two of them to travel to the various landmarks and places described in the journal while they are on their road trip. They end up stopping for the night at a hotel detailed in the journal, where the Lenonadi family was brutally slaughtered. Pablo and Malena take the room adjacent to the room the Lenonadis met their deaths and are horrified to overhear a spiritual reenactment of the murders. The siblings decide to flee but Pablo forgets the book and must return to retrieve it. This nearly ends with Pablo's death and when he has reached safety Pablo notices that some of the details in the book have changed, making him wonder if it is possible for him to change the past. However as they travel Pablo finds that his quest to discover more about his father is bringing both siblings revelations that they are ill prepared to deal with.

Casares (Federico Luppi) and Carmen (Marisa Paredes) operate a small home for orphans in a remote part of Spain during the Spanish Civil War. But Carlos soon begins having visions of a mysterious apparition he can't identify, and hears strange stories about a child named Santi who went missing the day the bomb appeared near the orphanage.

The story follows Princess Shizu (Hiroko Yakushimaru), her family slain and on the run from her enemies.
