It was produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. Directed by Lee Unkrich, the screenplay was written by Michael Arndt, while Unkrich wrote the story along with John Lasseter and Andrew Stanton, respectively director and co-writer of the first two films. The film was released worldwide from June through October in the Disney Digital 3-D, RealD, and IMAX 3D formats. Toy Story 3 was the first film to be released theatrically with Dolby Surround 7.1 sound.
The plot focuses on the toys Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and their friends dealing with an uncertain future as their owner, Andy, prepares to leave for college. The film features an ensemble voice cast with Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Don Rickles, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger, Estelle Harris, Jodi Benson, and John Morris reprising their roles from the previous films, and Ned Beatty, Michael Keaton, Whoopi Goldberg, Blake Clark (replacing Jim Varney), Timothy Dalton, Kristen Schaal, Bonnie Hunt, and Jeff Garlin joining the returning cast.
Toy Story 3 became the second Pixar film (after Up before it) and third animated film overall (after Beauty and the Beast and Up) to receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture. It received four more Academy Award nominations for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Sound Editing, Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song, winning the latter two. Toy Story 3 grossed over $1 billion worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing film of 2010—both in North America and worldwide—and the fifth-highest-grossing film at the time of its release, as well as the highest grossing animated film of all time and the first animated film to generate $1 billion in ticket sales. A sequel, Toy Story 4, directed by Lasseter is scheduled to be released on June 15, 2018.
Synopsis
Andy, now 17 years old, is about to leave for college, and his toys have not been played with for years. He intends to take only Woody with him, and puts Buzz Lightyear, Jessie and the other toys in a bag to be stored in the attic. Andy's mother mistakenly takes the bag to the curb for garbage pickup. The toys escape and, believing Andy intended to throw them away, decide to climb in a donation box with Barbie bound for Sunnyside Daycare. Woody follows them and tries to explain the mistake, but they refuse to believe him.Actors

Woody prepares to go to cowboy camp with Andy, but his right arm is accidentally torn. Andy decides to leave him behind, and his mother puts him on a shelf. The next day, Woody discovers that Wheezy, a penguin squeaky toy, has been shelved for months due to a broken squeaker. When Andy's mother puts Wheezy in a yard sale, Woody rescues him, only to be stolen by a greedy toy collector, who takes him to his residential 23-story apartment. Buzz Lightyear and all of Andy's other toys identify the thief from a commercial as Al McWhiggin, the owner of a toy store called Al's Toy Barn. Buzz, Hamm, Mr. Potato Head, Slinky Dog, and Rex all set out to rescue Woody.

Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, Rex, Mr. Pricklepants, Mr. Potato Head, and Trixie sit in the trunk of Bonnie's mother's car during a road trip, using a portable DVD player to watch a horror film. When the car gets a flat tire, Jessie is knocked into a tool box. The others manage to free her, but Jessie is traumatized as the experience reminds her of the many years she spent abandoned in a box. Months after Toy Story 3, it is winter break for Bonnie, who is going on vacation to Hawaii with her family. The toys are excited to have a week of relaxation, but Barbie and Ken reveal themselves to have stowed away in Bonnie's backpack, hoping to join her in Hawaii. Bonnie leaves them in her room, however, much to Ken's horror and disappointment when he realizes they are not going to Hawaii. Barbie reveals to Woody that Ken planned to have their first kiss on a beach at sunset (based on a travel brochure), inspiring Woody, Buzz, and the rest of Bonnie's toys to go all out and recreate Hawaii for the two. After various adventures in "Hawaii", Ken and Barbie share their first kiss in the snow at sunrise, recreating the scene from the brochure. However, the two step off the edge of the porch without realizing it and end up buried in snow; a post-credits scene shows the other toys trying to free them from a block of ice in which they are now frozen.

At a fast food chicken restaurant called "Poultry Palace", Bonnie does not want the electronic Zurg belt buckle that comes with her kid's meal. When she asks for a mini-Buzz Lightyear–themed toy, she is told the restaurant's supplies of them have run out. When her mother asks about the one in the display case, she is told that it is for display only. Inside the display, Mini-Buzz Lightyear complains they will never be played with—as they are just the display toys—to Mini-Zurg (who prefers to stay). Bonnie goes on to play in the ball pit with her own toys; when no one is looking, Mini-Buzz secretly climbs in. He pulls the real Buzz underneath the balls so that Bonnie's mother ends up picking up Mini-Buzz when they leave the restaurant. Once Mini-Buzz gets home, he passes himself off as the real Buzz (explaining to the other toys that the plastic in the ball pit made him shrink), and proceeds to generally annoy the whole gang (save a gullible Rex) with his obvious ruse and his antics.

In a world where toys pretend to be lifeless in the presence of humans, Woody, a pullstring cowboy toy, is the leader of a group of toys that are owned by a boy named Andy Davis. With his family moving away one week before his birthday, Andy is given a week-early party to spend with his friends, while the toys stage a reconnaissance mission to discover Andy's new presents. The parallel city of Monstropolis is inhabited by monsters and powered by the screams of children in the human world. At the factory of Monsters, Inc., employees called "scarers" venture into children's bedrooms to scare them and collect their screams, using closet doors as portals. This is considered a dangerous task because the monsters believe children are toxic and that touching them would be fatal. However, production is falling as children are becoming harder to scare and the company's chairman Henry J. Waternoose III is determined to find a solution. The top scarer is James P. Autrefois, Imelda Rivera était mariée à un musicien talentueux. Ce dernier avait quitté sa femme et sa fille, Coco, pour poursuivre sa carrière musicale. En représailles, Imelda avait banni toute musique dans sa famille et créé une entreprise de cordonnerie, transmise de génération en génération. Dans le présent, son arrière-arrière-petit-fils, Miguel, âgé de 12 ans, vit avec sa famille, et Coco, son arrière-grand-mère, dans le petit village mexicain de Santa Cecilia. Il rêve de devenir un musicien comme Ernesto de la Cruz, vedette de la chanson et du cinéma, de la même génération qu'Imelda (ce dernier est mort lors d'une représentation, quand une énorme cloche lui est tombée sur la tête). Lors des préparatifs de la Fête des Morts, Miguel casse accidentellement le cadre de la photographie d'Imelda, au centre de l'autel, et découvre que son mari (dont la tête a été arrachée de la photographie) tenait la célèbre guitare blanche d'Ernesto. Plus tard dans la soirée, quand Miguel fait part à sa famille de son intention de participer au concours de talents du Jour des Morts, sa grand-mère Elena détruit sa guitare. Furieux, il quitte la maison et se dirige vers le cimetière de la ville.
