Noi credevamo (We Believed) is a 2010 Italian drama film directed by Mario Martone, based on a screenplay by the same director and by Giancarlo De Cataldo inspired by actual historical events that occurred and by the writing of the late Anna Banti. The film, consisting of four chapters (titled: Choices, Domenico, Angelo, and Dawn of A Nation) tells the story of three young men from Cliento named Angelo, who has a patriotic spirit, Domenico, who believes in friendship, and Salvatore, who approves of violent action. In 1828, they decide to take part in the republican political movement of the Giovine Italia party of Giuseppe Mazzini. Their lives, following this decision, take different paths, and provide a way to retell various episodes of the historic Risorgimento italiano.
Actors
