Karl Gerhart Fröbe, better known as Gert Fröbe ([ˈɡɛɐt ˈfʁøːbə]; 25 February 1913 – 5 September 1988), was a German film actor known for his work as Auric Goldfinger in the James Bond film Goldfinger, as Peachum in The Threepenny Opera, as Baron Bomburst in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and as Hotzenplotz in Der Räuber Hotzenplotz.
Après la guerre, il joue dans des spectacles de rue. Son premier véritable rôle à l'écran aura lieu dans Ballade Berlinoise, en 1948. Il enchaîne ensuite les seconds rôles en Europe, puis rencontre Fritz Lang en 1960, qui lui fait jouer le rôle de l'inspecteur dans Le Diabolique docteur Mabuse. Il participe au tournage du film Le Jour le plus long en 1962.
Son rôle le plus connu reste celui d'Auric Goldfinger dans Goldfinger, le troisième film de la saga James Bond. En 1966, il incarne un personnage historique : le général Von Choltitz dans Paris brûle-t-il ?. L'un de ses derniers films sera Le Coup du parapluie de Gérard Oury en 1980, où il parodie son personnage de Goldfinger. Fröbe décède à Munich en septembre 1988 d'une crise cardiaque à l'âge de 75 ans. Il est enterré dans le cimetière de Waldfriedhof, Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausener, Bavière.

Biography
Il commence par étudier les arts et la musique, notamment le violon, et passe par l'Académie des Beaux-Arts de Dresde. Sa carrière d'acteur débute dans un contexte difficile, l'Allemagne est alors en pleine récession. Il adhère au NSDAP (Parti national-socialiste des travailleurs allemands). Il est enrôlé dans l'armée à Vienne. Il n'apparaît pourtant pas comme un fervent partisan des thèses nazies, puisque des années plus tard, alors qu'il est critiqué pour son passé lors de la sortie de Goldfinger en Israël, on découvre qu'il aurait sauvé deux juifs à Vienne, ainsi qu'il l'a narré : "J'étais très ami avec un homme qui avait épousé une juive. Le couple avait un enfant. Un beau (sic) jour d'été, la Gestapo est venue et a emmené le père. Sa femme, qui s'appelait Stella Blumnau, vint me trouver en larmes. Que pouvais-je faire ? Je lui donnais la clé de mon appartement pour qu'elle s'y cache. Cela aurait pu me coûter la vie." During the late 14th century Serbia becomes the target of the Ottoman Empire. While the respected Serbian noble Strahinja Banović is out hunting, a Turkish renegade gang burns his castle, kills all of his servants, and takes the young wife of Banović Strahinja. At a luxury hotel in Djerba, Tunisia, psychic magician Vestar (Fröbe) meets the dark Edouard (Rochefort). Heading to the hotel, Vestar has a vision of a woman being murdered in the desert. Edouard, a member of the leisure class, decides to use his influence to make the dream become a reality. Also staying at the resort are Sadry, returning (Nero) who has come home to visit his dying mother, and his annoying wife Sylvia (Sandrelli). Also there is Martine (von Weitershausen), an ex-lover of Sabry who would like to get back together with him. The marriage is further strained when Sylvia finds the two of them together. It appears that the prophesied murder has something to do with Sylvia. Specific details from Vestar's prediction about her death are used by Edouard to make it happen, although in fact his interference alters the results. Sadry comes to terms with her tensions and anger as events build toward the inevitable.

Set in the 1910s, the story opens with a montage of European Grand Prix races in which a particular car appears to win every race. In the final race, the car swerves to avoid a girl and a dog, loses control, crashes, and catches fire, bringing its racing career to an end. The car ends up in an old garage in rural England, where two children, Jeremy and Jemima Potts, have grown fond of it. They are told by a junkman that he intends to buy the car from the garage owner for scrap. The children (who live with their widowed father Caractacus Potts, an eccentric inventor, and his equally peculiar father) implore their father to buy the car before the junkman does, but he does not have the money. While playing truant, they meet Truly Scrumptious, a beautiful upper class woman with her own motorcar. She brings them home to report their truancy to their father. Truly shows interest in Caractacus' odd inventions, but he is affronted by her insistence that his children should be in school.

Caroline est la fille du comte de Bièvres, un aristocrate désargenté qui veut la marier. Lors d'une partie de campagne au bois de Vincennes, alors que la prise de la Bastille est imminente en ce 14 juillet 1789, elle fait la connaissance de Gaston de Sallanches qui va l'initier à l'amour. Celui-ci est bientôt mis en accusation par Robespierre et Caroline doit s'enfuir pour sauver sa tête. Elle va alors enchaîner des rencontres galantes qui lui feront traverser tous les périls et retrouver Gaston de Sallanches, devenu l'un des officiers de Bonaparte.
