Rhys Wakefield (born 20 November 1988) is an Australian actor. He is best known as Thomas in the 2008 film The Black Balloon, and as Lucas Holden on Home and Away.
His first professional acting role was an uncredited appearance in the film Bootmen in 2000. This was later followed by a television appearance playing Brad, a guest star in the 2001 series ''Don't Blame Me for which he appeared in two episodes, Best Foot Forward and The Dingo Made Me Do It. Wakefield played his first leading role in a feature film in The Black Balloon as Thomas Mollison, which opened 6 March 2008 in Australian cinemas. Its world premiere was at the Berlin International Film Festival in Germany in February 2008, where the film received a Crystal Bear as the best feature-length film in the Generation 14plus'' category.

Biography
Before appearing as Lucas in Home and Away, Wakefield had been acting for more than six years. He attended classes at The McDonald College of Performing Arts where he won an acting scholarship in 2003. As well as performing in a number of school productions he appeared in numerous Shakespeare festivals and has worked with Opera Australia and the Australian Ballet. In addition to attending the McDonald College he also attended an acting course at the Zenith Theatre in 2003. Wakefield finished Year 12 at McDonald College of Performing Arts in 2006.His first professional acting role was an uncredited appearance in the film Bootmen in 2000. Mr. Zimit, a philosophy teacher at an international school in Jakarta, has been challenging his class of twenty with thought exercises to prepare them for their future. While on the phone with his girlfriend Jill, who has moved away to attend college, David prompts her to explicitly wish that he were there to see her compete in a fencing tournament, only to surprise her with an unplanned visit. Fifteen-year-old Thomas Mollison (Rhys Wakefield) and his family move to a new home in the early 1990s. It begins with Charlie, his autistic brother banging a wooden spoon on the grass with neighbors staring and pointing, then it cuts to the house where there are locks on the drawers and Maggie, their mother, locking star shaped stickers in her bathroom cabinet. Thomas is anxious because he has to start at a new school, and make new friends - all he wants is to do is fit in and be regarded in the same way as everyone else. However, it seems he struggles to achieve this goal. Although his family appears to be a fairly happy one, Thomas often feels isolated; it seems as if his mother only dotes upon his brother, Charlie (Luke Ford), and does not pay any attention to him. Thomas, however, is devoted to his brother and shows affection for him. Charlie is Thomas's older brother who lives with autism, as well as Attention Deficit Disorder. Charlie enjoys dressing up like a monkey, playing computer games using a Commodore 64 and receiving gold stars for good behaviour. Charlie communicates with the rest of his family by using Sign Language.
