A chemist in his laboratory places upon a table his own head, alive; then fixing upon his head a rubber tube with a pair of bellows, he begins to blow with all his might. Immediately the head increases in size and continues to enlarge until it becomes truly colossal while making faces. The chemist, fearing to burst it, opens a cock in the tube. The head immediately contracts and resumes its original size. He then calls his assistant and informs him of his discovery. The assistant, wishing to experiment for himself, seizes the bellows and blows into the head with all his might. The head swells until it bursts with a crash, knocking over the two experimenters. The chemist then literally kicks his assistant from the lab in anger.

According to a surviving catalogue description of the film: A magician presents a circular piece of paper from which he removes the flags of the allies. Then from each flag he produces a soldier from the respective country, and finally he produces a Chinaman. But hardly have the allies seen the latter than they pounce on him and try to cut him into pieces. The funniest part of our story is that the Chinaman escapes in a balloon, with an expression of childish innocence on his face as the allies try to cut him up.

Il s'en amourache et tente donc de la capturer avec une couverture, ce qui la change en une princesse arabe qu'il convoite encore plus. Mais en tentant de la séduire il finit par être transformé par elle, à son tour, en une grosse chenille.

A traveler, complete with riding boots and a pith helmet, arrives in a small hotel room. When he puts his luggage on the bed, it disappears immediately. Further magical confusions follow: when he sets down his helmet, it jumps to the floor and moves of its own accord before disappearing in its turn; when the traveler tries to light a candle, it jumps across the room and explodes; when he takes off his coat, it flies through the wall; when he tries to sit down, his chair changes place. Finally managing to sit down, the traveler takes off his boots, which walk away; when the traveler moves to the night table, it too disappears. The traveler prepares for bed and takes off his trousers, which fly through the ceiling. When he jumps into bed, it too disappears and reappears. The perplexed and irritated traveler gives up and dashes out of the room.

Sorti en 1899, c'est-à-dire seulement 5 ans après les débuts de l'affaire Dreyfus dans un contexte politique où la France est divisée en 2 camps, ce film ouvertement dreyfusard reconstitue de manière chronologique et séquentiellement les faits de l'époque. Après le jugement militaire, les images muettes montrent Dreyfus au bagne où il est attaché à son lit la nuit. Puis on voit le suicide du colonel Henry suivi du retour en France de Dreyfus par une nuit d'orage.

A magician walks onto a stage and brings out his assistant. He spreads a newspaper on the floor (thus demonstrating that no trap door is hidden there) and places a chair on top of it. He has his assistant sit in the chair, and spreads a blanket over her. When he removes the blanket, she has disappeared. He then waves his arms in the air and conjures up a skeleton. He places the blanket over the skeleton and removes it to reveal his assistant, alive and well.

Le film se déroule au début de la Guerre gréco-turque (1897) à Tyrnavos, en Thessalie. Dans une ville d'architecture orientale, des soldats européens se battent depuis un mur érigé en barricade. Les assaillants grimpent par-dessus le mur à l'aide d'une échelle et pénètrent dans la nouvelle enceinte par une porte, alors que les soldats se réfugient dans une habitation. Ils n'arrivent pas à défoncer la porte de cette dernière et posent donc un bâton de dynamite, qui explose, puis rentrent dans la bâtisse les armes à la main.
