Chris est boxeur, Peter est comédien et Max un jeune publicitaire. Au fil des ans, ils ont placé dans une banque d'investissement toutes leurs économies quand subitement, ils découvrent tous que leurs comptes ont été vidés ! Schumacher, le peu scrupuleux directeur de la banque, a intentionnellement vidé les comptes des trois hommes, pour pouvoir se débarrasser de Tobias, un conseiller de la banque. Avec la complicité de ce dernier, les trois hommes vont élaborer un plan pour récupérer leur argent et se venger en braquant la banque frauduleuse.

At the end of the Qing Dynasty due to poverty and starvation, Ma Wing Jing (Takeshi Kaneshiro) and his older brother Ma Tai Cheung (Yuen Wah) flee from their harsh homeland to the big city of Shanghai to make their fortune. Once they arrive in Shanghai reality sets in and both are only able to secure jobs as coolies (bitter hard manual labor) making chump change. Wing Jing admires the local triad gangster boss Tam Sei's (Yuen Biao) life style. Tam Sei seeing Ma Wing Jing admire his horse carriage challenges Wing Jing to a human versus horse race. Wing Jing accepts his challenge, after seeing Wing Jing's determination, loyalty, fighting skills and athleticism the two strike up a friendship and Tam Sei tells Wing Jing to visit his night club one day if he ever needs help.
Vinny Pallazzo (Jay Acovone) is a retired gangster who has left the mafia after a disastrous incident. Now working as a clerk in a dusty bookshop of Los Angeles, he has to look after his young, reckless nephew Anthony (Matt LeBlanc), who lives fast, spending his time between seducing girls at the bookshop, dancing in nightclubs and playing poker games with friends. Sawaki (Shin'ichi Tsutsumi) is a postman. He has an old friend Noguchi (Keisuke Horibe) who, unknown to him, had become a yakuza. Noguchi was being spied by the police for a long time. One day Sawaki delivers a letter to him and stays at his place for a while. During his stay Noguchi puts a package of drugs into Sawaki's letter bag. His finger, which he cut off as a symbol of loyalty to his gang, also accidentally falls into the bag. Viewing his relationship with Noguchi, the police think that Sawaki is a member of the yakuza and follow him. On reaching home, Sawaki finds a suicide note in his bag written by a cancer patient to her aunt. He rushes to the hospital to see the girl Kyoko (Kyoko Toyama) and falls in love with her. He meets a hit man Joe (Ren Osugi) there who tells him how he had won the contract killing competition called the "Killer of killers". The police profiler (Tomoro Taguchi), who was following Sawaki, comes to the conclusion that Sawaki is a member of the criminal gang. Meanwhile, Naguchi discovers that the finger he had cut was no longer in his house. All this marked the beginning of problems for Sawaki.
Cheung Wai-kit (Nicholas Tse) and Ngai Fung "Fit Lo" (Edison Chen) are best friends and two of Hong Kong's top young cops. After foiling a robbery attempt they are promoted to the Narcotic units led by hot-headed police chief Cheung Tit-Man (Simon Yam).
