Synopsis
Égine, dans les années 1930. À la sortie du lycée, Loïzos et ses amis, dont Alekos, Dimitris et Andreas, créent une brigade de sapeurs pompiers et mènent une vie simple et heureuse, à l'image des anciens Grecs. Cependant, Nestor, qui a fait ses études au lycée catholique, tue par accident Andreas. Loïzos cherche à se venger. En parallèle, Loïzos, Alekos et Dimitris sont tous trois tombés amoureux de Monika, la fille de l'ambassadeur britannique. Lors d'un bal masqué à la résidence de l'ambassadeur, Alekos apprend par Sebastian, le frère de Monika, que celle-ci est amoureuse de Loïzos. Il décide de favoriser leur amour. Mais, Loïzos finit par s'enfuir de l'île avec une chanteuse plus âgée. Alekos devient le chef de la bande. Il met le feu à la maison de Nestor et viole Monika. Il est tué par Sebastian.Actors

Stella, the main character, is a rebetiko singer. Although she is in love with Miltos, a soccer player, she repeatedly rejects his marriage proposals. When Miltos finally forces her to accept the idea of marriage, Stella does not appear in church, despite Miltos repeatedly warning her that he will kill her if she doesn't marry him. Miltos kills her with a dagger at end of the film.

The Trojan Women was one of a trilogy of plays dealing with the suffering created by the Trojan Wars. Hecuba (Katharine Hepburn), Queen of the Trojans and mother of Hector, one of Troy's most fearsome warriors, looks upon the remains of her kingdom; Andromache (Vanessa Redgrave), widow of the slain Hector and mother of his son Astyanax, must raise her son in the war's aftermath; Cassandra (Geneviève Bujold), Hecuba's daughter who has been driven insane by the ravages of war, waits to see if King Agamemnon will drive her into concubinage; Helen of Troy (Irene Papas), waits to see if she will live. But the most awful truth is unknown to them until Talthybius (Brian Blessed), the messenger of the Greek king, comes to the ruined city and tells them that King Agamemnon and his brother Menelaus have decreed that Hector's son Astyanax must die — the last of the male royalty of Troy must be executed to ensure the extinction of the line.

Deux riches Athéniens viennent en vacances sur Hydra : un écrivain Pavlos (Dimitris Horn) et un architecte Antonis. Ils louent deux chambres chez Froso, veuve depuis dix ans. Celle-ci a pris un amant. La honte rejaillit sur la fille, Marina (Ellie Lambeti) et son fils Mitsos (Anestis Vlachos). Pavlos fait la cour, avec succès, à Marina. Un de ses soupirants locaux, Cristos (Giorgos Foundas), jaloux car il n'a jamais réussi à la séduire, décide de se venger. La relation entre Pavlos et Marina entraîne une dispute entre celui-ci et son ami Antonis qui repart pour Athènes. Cristos et sa bande font alors une « farce » à Pavlos : il retire la bonde du fond de sa barque avant son départ pour une promenade en mer. Cela provoque la mort de deux enfants innocents. Les diverses relations amoureuses sont alors vouées à l'échec définitif.
