Released to theaters on December 1, 1959, the film is a loose adaptation of the Arab folktale of "Aladdin" from One Thousand and One Nights, albeit with the addition of UPA's star cartoon character, Mr. Magoo, to the story as Aladdin's uncle, "Abdul Azziz Magoo".

Set in London, circa 1900, George and Mary Darling's preparations to attend a party are disrupted by the antics of their boys, John and Michael, acting out a story about Peter Pan and the pirates, told to them by their older sister, Wendy. Their father, who is fed up with the stories that have made his children less practical, angrily declares that Wendy has gotten too old to continue staying in the nursery with them, and it's time for her to grow up and have a room of her own. That night, they are visited in the nursery by Peter Pan himself, who teaches them to fly with the help of his pixie friend, Tinker Bell, and takes them with him to the island of Never Land.

Bongo est un petit ours, vedette d'un cirque, qui malgré ses nombreux numéros et l'accueil du public ne supporte plus sa vie. Selon le narrateur, il serait capable de jongler sur un trapèze et de faire l'équilibriste, mais il est maltraité par ses maîtres et placé dans une cage trop étroite. Un jour, lors d'un trajet en train, sa conscience lui rappelle sa nature sauvage et le goût de la liberté. Il secoue les barreaux de sa cage jusqu'à briser le cadenas et s'échappe sur son monocycle vers une forêt. Il y rencontre plusieurs animaux. Cherchant à imiter ces animaux sauvages, dont deux tamias qui grimpent à un arbre, Bongo provoque leurs rires. Mais il profite de sa liberté et se prélasse dans une prairie de marguerites, admirant le paysage. Il se promène dans la montagne et reste avec les animaux jusqu'à la tombée de la nuit. Alors que les autres sont endormis, Bongo passe une nuit agitée par l'irruption d'une chenille, d'un mille-pattes, d'un coyote, de moustiques puis d'un orage avec ses éclairs et son tonnerre. En pleine nuit, il part sur son monocycle à la recherche d'un endroit plus calme et parvient à dormir. Son réveil est brutal quand il s'aperçoit qu'il était au bord d'une falaise. Affolé, il cherche à s'en aller sur son monocycle mais un éternuement le repousse vers le précipice. Il parvient toutefois à survivre.

Inspirée de La Légende de Sleepy Hollow de Washington Irving (1820), La Légende de la Vallée endormie raconte l'histoire d'Ichabod Crane qui, un jour d'automne, est nommé instituteur dans le village de Sleepy Hollow. Arrivé sur les lieux, il rencontre la plus belle jeune femme du village, Katrina Van Tassel, fille d'un riche propriétaire terrien, dont il tombe immédiatement amoureux. Il réussit à écarter Katrina de Brom Bones, la brute de la bourgade qui aime lui aussi la séduire. Furieux, Brom Bones décide pour se venger de raconter aux villageois l'effrayante légende du Cavalier sans tête lors de la soirée d'Halloween organisée par le père de Katrina. Mais après la fête, Ichabod doit rentrer seul chez lui, en pleine nuit, en passant par la forêt…
