Vingt-quatre heures de la vie d'un clown est un court métrage français de Jean-Pierre Melville tourné en 1946 (ou 1947), avec pour acteurs principaux les fameux clowns Béby et Maïss, alors vedettes du cirque Medrano à Paris.
Le film nous fait partager l'univers et l'intimité de ces artistes célèbres à l'époque (années 1940) et aujourd'hui oubliés.
Son titre est un clin d’œil au roman de Stefan Zweig, Vingt-quatre heures de la vie d'une femme.
Synopsis
Le film suit l'horloge alors que Beby, clown du music hall, se maquille, rentre à la maison pour son repas, regarde des photos et se couche puis se lève,, passe une journée dans le village et se produit avec son nouveau partenaire.Actors

In 1937, Republican Militia force a circus troupe to fight on their side in the Spanish Civil War. The Funny Clown (Santiago Segura) slaughters dozens of Nationalist troops, armed only with a machete, before being shot and disarmed. While his fellow troupe members are executed, the Funny Clown is sentenced to work as a slave laborer, at the monument of the Valle de los Caídos. His son, Javier (Sasha Di Bendetto) tries to free him by setting off dynamite where he was working. But Colonel Salcedo (Sancho Gracia) tramples the Funny Clown to death with his horse. Javier knocks him down, gouging out his eye in the process. Salcedo vows to remember Javier for this insult.

À Saint-Élie-de-Caxton, les habitants les plus superstitieux, dont un barbier ivrogne (René Richard Cyr) et une commère enceinte depuis vingt ans (Marie Brassard), attribuent à Babine (Vincent-Guillaume Otis), fils simple d'esprit d'une guérisseuse peu avenante surnommée La Sorcière (Isabel Richer), tous les malheurs qui s'abattent sur le village. Lorsque l'église flambe, avec dedans le bienveillant Vieux Curé (Julien Poulin), le successeur fanatique de ce dernier (Alexis Martin) s'empresse de faire condamner à mort le fou inoffensif en lui arrachant une confession sous la menace. Le garçon naïf et rêveur parvient cependant à s'échapper, grâce à l'aide de l'avisé Toussaint Brodeur (Luc Picard), marchand général et éleveur de mouches, qui est presque devenu un père pour lui. Babine aboutit alors dans un cirque ambulant, où il tombe sous le charme d'une saltimbanque qui exécute un numéro périlleux avec un taureau géant. Il réussit à rentrer chez lui en amenant le taureau avec lui. Il réussit à le faire repartir dans le coucher du soleil. Il est cependant condamné à mort, de la façon qu'il veut. Il meurt donc à 276 ans, après tous ceux qui l'ont condamné à mort, par le temps.

Yo Yo is the son of a 1920s billionaire who, although having everything he fancies and living in a cavernous old castle, is not happy, fancying the simple life of a beautiful circus actress. When the stock-exchange crashes, rendering him both poor and free. Thus, he joins the circus where his love interest is performing, and fall madly in love. The film is set against the backdrop of a circus company. Chandran is a circus performer. Thankam, a beautiful 17-year-old girl, is his childhood sweetheart. But, Thankam's mother Kalyani Amma forbids her to prolong her affair with Chandran. She wants Thankam to marry Gopi, a well known bully from the town. Thankam's father Paithal Nair, however rejects this proposal. But as the circus shifts to another village, everything goes wrong. The circus people owed some money to Paithal Nair which they were unable to pay. Despite the circus manager's assurances Kalyani Amma and Nair decide to hold the circus animals hostage until the circus manager repays his debt. Managing the animals soon becomes a nightmare and Paithal and family realize they have invited trouble (pulival pidikkuka - an expression in Malayalam for trouble, mess etc. It literally means catch a leopard by its tail). Paithal Nair is in financial stress and has no other way than to accept the marriage proposal from Gopi for his daughter. What will happen to Chandran and Thankam's romance? How does Paithal Nair overcome his problems? Answers to these questions form the rest of the story.
