Synopsis

C'est l'histoire d'un adolescent d'origine algérienne, Farid, qui provoque des réactions violentes au sein de son environnement familial et de ses amis, parmi lesquels son ami Jean, avec lequel Farid entretenait des relations homosexuelles. Pour la critique Luce Vigo, c'est « un des films les plus marquants de l’histoire du court métrage français des années 1980 : par son sujet – un moment charnière des liens amoureux entre deux garçons, Jean, le Français dessinateur et Farid, l’Algérien apprenti électricien –, par sa dramaturgie qui crée surprise et émotion, par le regard porté par Cyril Collard sur les personnages, la société et les lieux dans lesquels se déroulent les temps forts de son récit. »

“I feel I go through life like an American tourist, doing as many towns as possible", explains Jean, a camera man and aspiring film director. During a casting session he meets Laura, a lively, eighteen-year-old aspiring actress. Captivated by her charm, Jean soon is pursuing her and she quickly falls in love with him. They start a passionate affair. At the same time, the restless Jean pursues a relationship with Samy, a young rugby player. Samy, who has emigrated with his mother and brother from Spain, is unemployed and equally troubled. He is straight and although living with his girlfriend, Marianne, he has no qualms about his homoerotic relationship with Jean, who has a big crush on him.
