Amanush (also spelt as Amanus ; English: The Inhuman) is a 2010 Indian Bengali-language drama film written and directed by Rajib Biswas, starring Soham Chakraborty and Srabanti Malakar in lead roles, whilst newcomer Rehaan Roy, Saswata Chatterjee play supporting roles. The film, which has music scored by noted musician Jeet Ganguly and cinematography handled by Kumud Verma, released on April 2010. The film is officially a remake of the 2003 blockbuster superhit Kaadhal Kondein starring Dhanush and Sonia Agarwal, respectively. This film was already remade in Bangladesh as Anya Manush in 2004.

The story explores the mind of a youth who is mentally and physically abused in his childhood. The lack of a mother's love haunts the protagonist throughout the film as the girl of his infatuation parts him in her death. Turning into a psychopath, he desperately tries to woo his newly found lady love and his efforts culminate in a superb nail-biting cliffhanger.

Synopsis

Vinod (Soham Chakraborty), who orphaned at an early age,has grown up under the care of a church father, Father Rozario (Nagesh), in North Bengal, is an introvert but a genius. He is forcibly sent to college by Father Rozario but is a complete misfit in class. One day he solves a complex mathematics problem in class surprising his classmates. Though shunned by the rest of his class, Ria (Srabanti Chatterjee) becomes his friend and he gradually warms up to her too. His feelings soon turn into love but he realizes that Ria considers him as only a friend. But he is unwilling to let her go. Meanwhile Vinod learns that Ria is in love with another classmate, Aditya (Rehaan Roy).

The movie begins with Abhi (Dev) practicing guitar when a girl runs to him and asks him to save her from a gang of goons chasing her. Then Abhi, without fighting, resolves the conflict. The girl introduces herself as Kajol (Sayantika Banerjee). They slowly become friends. But one day she asks Abhi to leave her and go as she cannot stand the separation from him if their relationship develops any further. He then goes back to India and changes the mind of Kajol's brother and when they give a vacation he goes with him to his village. There, where everyone are conservative in nature, he changes their nature and makes them more lovable.

The film revolved around women of three generations and their lives and changing position in society. And this is shown in relation to a jewellery box. After becoming a victim of ethnic cleansing during the partition of India, her family moves to the Republic of India from East Pakistan, losing their ancestral lands in the process. She spends the remainder of her life, apparently as a chaste widow, hiding her wedding jewels from her greedy relatives in the joint family. In 1949, she befriends the new bride of the family, her niece-in-law (Konkona Sen Sharma) shortly before dying.

Madhusudan Dutta (Soham Chakraborty),a mad citizen of Kolkata is crazy about marrying a Canadian girl to get the citizenship of Canada while on the other side Riya (Mimi Chakraborty) a classy modern girl wants to go to Canada to study fashion designing. The owner of the house throws both of them out and they work at two different Horo Parboti restaurants that are run by wife and husband, who are not together now. Madhusudan and Riya soon come to know that the Horo Parboti is going to be re-possessed by the bank because of six months unpaid property payments for the loan.Madhusudan and Riya work out the process of re-joining the husband and wife together so that the loan could be paid off. Slowly,Madhusudan and Riya start falling for each other but both of them don't want to admit it.Madhusudan realises that he loves Riya when Riya's fiancé, Bikram(Abir Chatterjee) comes to take Riya with him to India for their marriage. Finally Madhusudan leaves for India with a hope to bring Riya back to his life but after watching Riya has been married he is left heart broken. After a while,he meets Bikram at cinema hall where Bikram tells him that Riya is still single and Madhusudan runs to propose Riya and they live happily ever after.
