Synopsis
It is New Year's Eve, and Bruce Wayne is hosting a party at Wayne Manor. Just when he meets "Miss Kitka" (Catwoman in disguise, as seen in the 1966 film Batman: The Movie), he gets a call from Commissioner Gordon, explaining that the Joker is planning a New Year's Eve crime spree (the concept of the Joker planning a crime for midnight on New Year's Eve also appears in Batman: The Long Halloween).Actors

When Batman (West) and Robin (Ward) get a tip that Commodore Schmidlapp (Reginald Denny) is in danger aboard his yacht, they launch a rescue mission using the batcopter. As Batman descends on the bat-ladder to land on the yacht it suddenly vanishes beneath him. He rises out of the sea with a shark attacking his leg. After Batman dislodges it with bat-shark repellant, the shark explodes. Batman and Robin head back to Commissioner Gordon's office, where they deduce that the tip was a set-up by the United Underworld, a gathering of four of the most powerful villains in Gotham City (Joker, Penguin, Riddler and Catwoman).

During a conference of crime bosses held in a Gotham City skyscraper, gangster Chuckie Sol is killed by a mysterious cloaked figure, shortly after Batman bursts in on the meeting. Due to the killer's resemblance to Batman, the Dark Knight is blamed for Sol's death. Councilman Arthur Reeves tells the media that Batman is a public menace (despite Commissioner Gordon's protests), then later attends a party at the mansion of billionaire Bruce Wayne, Batman's secret identity. Reeves teases Bruce about his bad luck with women and for having allowed an old girlfriend, Andrea Beaumont, to get away.

In Neo-Gotham City, the Joker mysteriously resurfaces after having disappeared 35 years ago, taking over a faction of the criminal gang Jokerz. On his orders, they steal high-tech communications equipment. Despite the intervention of Terry McGinnis (Bruce Wayne's successor as Batman), the Joker escapes. Bruce insists that the Joker must be an impostor, claiming to have witnessed the Joker's death after their last battle. Unwilling to let Terry face the Joker—impostor or not—Bruce demands that he return the Batsuit. The Joker attacks Bruce in the Batcave, leaving him for dead. Terry, after fending off an attack from the Jokerz, finds Bruce near dead from the Joker's trademark toxin and quickly administers an antidote, tending to Bruce with the help of Barbara Gordon, who is now the commissioner of the GCPD.

Barbara Gordon traque les criminels de Gotham City dans le costume de Batgirl. Une nuit, elle tente d'arrêter des braqueurs seule mais échoue ; Batman intervient et capture l'un des voleurs en fuite. Furieuse, Batgirl commence à frapper Batman et le plaque au sol avant de l'embrasser, puis ils couchent ensemble. La nuit sème la confusion dans la relation entre Batman et Batgirl. Franz se manifeste à nouveau, piégeant Batman, et Batgirl intervient mais manque de le tuer. Barbara se rend compte que Batman avait raison et abandonne son costume.

Adam West and Burt Ward go in search of the Batmobile after it is stolen, and along the way find themselves forced to consult their memories to decipher clues left by the criminals, evidently people they had known from filming the Batman television series. Memories include affairs, one of which led to Burt being chased by a knife-bearing lover, medicine Burt was forced to take so his genitals would not be so visible in his tights, and Adam meeting the actress who played Batgirl (Yvonne Craig) and accidentally placing a hand on her breast during filming. As it turns out, the villains who stole the Batmobile were the actors who once played the Riddler (Frank Gorshin) and Catwoman (Julie Newmar).
