Synopsis
Régis et Joël sont deux demi-frères que tout oppose : le premier est métis, marié et père d'une fille, conseiller municipal dans une mairie et intégré au milieu de la classe moyenne ; tandis que le second est sans-emploi et vit chez sa mère avec sa fille, depuis sa sortie de prison pour agression sur une personne âgée. Les deux hommes sont un jour réclamés aux Antilles au chevet de leur père mourant, absent car ayant énormément voyagé et connu de nombreuses femmes. Là, ils reçoivent pour seul héritage l'acte d'affranchissement ayant libéré leurs ancêtres esclaves. Nullement préoccupés par la valeur symbolique de ce document, ils le déchirent, ce qui provoque la colère de leur tante.Actors

Le jeune et talentueux footballeur français Leslie Konda, évoluant au poste d'attaquant, vient de signer un contrat avec un grand club espagnol. Son agent Didier, présenté comme étant de faible envergure, l'a repéré durant son adolescence. Les ancêtres de Leslie sont originaires du Botswanga, pays dirigé par le dictateur Bobo Babimbi. Ce dernier, passionné de football, conclut un arrangement crapuleux avec Didier pour que Leslie Konda intègre la sélection nationale de son pays, les Crocodiles du Botswanga. Didier et Leslie vont vivre une semaine au sein d'une dictature ubuesque où le tyran connaît mieux les prénoms de ses crocodiles domestiques mangeurs d'opposants politiques que ceux de ses propres enfants.

Le prince Aladin s’ennuie au palais. Son ancienne vie d’aventurier lui manque et il ne se sent pas légitime dans ses luxueux habits de monarque. Shah Zaman, dictateur sans pitié qui a décidé d’épouser la princesse, s’empare de Bagdad et du palais. Aladin est contraint de s’enfuir et part récupérer son ancien génie. Après un long périple semé d’embûches, Aladin est enfin de retour à Bagdad où il va devoir affronter des gardes armés, les hommes de Richelieu, un méchant génie à la solde de Shah Zaman, et Shah Zaman lui-même. Il va surtout devoir combattre un obstacle auquel il ne s’attendait pas : les doutes de la princesse.

The film opens with a funeral procession, presumably that of Jacob Marley, as his death is mentioned by the narrator (Roger Rees). The scene then changes to seven years later, on Christmas Eve in 1843 within the business establishment of Scrooge and Marley. Bob Cratchit (David Warner), a clerk employed by Scrooge, comments that Marley has been dead for seven years, but is gruffly ordered to return to work by Marley's surviving partner, Ebenezer Scrooge (George C. Scott). Bob then attempts to add some coal to an almost nonexistent fire, but is stopped by Scrooge, who gives him a curt and cutting lecture on clothing as protection against the cold, and that "coal burns; coal is fleeting, and coal is costly". Scrooge then declares that there will be no more coal burned in the office that day, and orders Cratchit to return to work lest he be fired.

The film centres on Riley Jones (Shanley Caswell), a suicidal social outcast at Grizzly Lake High School who harbours an unrequited love for ironically named hipster, and friend since childhood, Clapton Davis (Josh Hutcherson). Clapton is, in turn, head over heels for Ione Foster (Spencer Locke), a beautiful self-absorbed cheerleader who was once best friends with Riley. Their friendship collapsed after Ione pursued Clapton, despite knowing of Riley's feelings for him. All three are waiting out their final year of high school, but it's anyone's guess if they'll ever see graduation, as a serial killer known as Cinderhella is on the loose and preying on Grizzly Lake's student body. The principal (Dane Cook) is certain Cinderhella is a disgruntled student at the school and figures he can keep the prom from turning into a bloodbath by putting the likely suspects in all-day (10:00 AM-10:00 PM) detention on the day of the big dance.

On July 4th, 2005, in a fictionalized United States alternate history reality, two towns in Texas: El Paso and Abilene were destroyed by twin nuclear attacks that triggered a catastrophe of unimaginable proportions, sending America into a state of anarchy and hysteria, as well as a Third World War (a fictionalized perspective of what the War on Terror would've escalated to). The PATRIOT Act has extended authority to a new agency known as US-IDent, which keeps constant surveillance on citizens—even to the extent of censoring the Internet and requiring fingerprints to access computers and bank accounts. In response to the recent fuel shortage in the wake of global warfare, the German company Treer designs a generator of inexhaustible energy, which is propelled by the perpetual motion of ocean currents, called "Fluid Karma". However, its inventor Baron von Westphalen and his associates are hiding the fact that the generators alter the ocean's currents and cause the Earth to slow its rotation, and that the transmission of Fluid Karma to portable receivers (via quantum entanglement) is ripping holes in the fabric of space and time.

Gil Pender, a successful but creatively unfulfilled Hollywood screenwriter, and his fiancée, Inez, are in Paris, vacationing with Inez's wealthy, conservative parents. Gil is struggling to finish his first novel, centered on a man who works in a nostalgia shop. Inez dismisses his ambition as a romantic daydream and encourages him to stick with lucrative screenwriting. Gil is considering moving to Paris (which he notes, much to the dismay of his fiancée, is at its most beautiful in the rain). Inez is intent on living in Malibu. By chance, they are joined by Inez's friend Paul who is described as both pedantic and a pseudo-intellectual, and who speaks with great authority but questionable accuracy on the history and art of Paris. Paul contradicts a tour guide at the Rodin Museum, and insists that his knowledge of Rodin's relationships is more accurate than that of the tour guide. Inez admires him; Gil finds him insufferable.
