The film is an offshoot of the television film Para Aceitá-la Continue na Linha produced for TV Cultura in 2010. It was selected as hours-concours for the Première Brasil of the 2012 Festival do Rio.

Synopsis
The film tells the story of Clara, a lady of high society in São Paulo that falls in a fake kidnapping scam and is guided by the voice of the criminal in the following 12 hours, following by roads that lead up to the suburb of Rio de Janeiro. In this way, she will be extorted up to the limit of her credit card.Comments

In the late 1990s, Durval (Ary França) is a middle-aged man who owns a record store in the first floor of his overbearing mother's house (Etty Fraser). A typical hippie, Durval refuses to sell CDs despite the decline in customers. He notices his mother is not giving as much attention to cooking and house chores as she once did and suggests they hire a maid, a task which is tricky since they are only willing to pay 100 reais. A young woman (Letícia Sabatella) finally appears willing to take on the job, but disappears after one day. They soon discover that she left a little girl called Kiki and note asking them to take care of her for a couple of days. Durval and his mother become attached to Kiki, but soon discover that Kiki is actually the daughter of a wealthy family from the countryside who has been kidnapped.

Minneapolis car salesman Jerry Lundegaard (William H. Macy) is desperate for money. Nicole Walker (Reese Witherspoon) is a fairly innocent teenager with a rebellious streak. Having been kicked out of her mother's house, she now lives in the suburbs of Seattle with her well-meaning but overbearing father Steven (William Petersen) and his new family: second wife, Laura (Amy Brenneman) and Toby (Christopher Gray), Laura's preteen son from her first marriage. At a rave with best friend Margo Masse (Alyssa Milano), Nicole meets David McCall (Mark Wahlberg), who is part of the same group of friends as the guy Margo is with. Though he has borderline personality disorder and antisocial features, she is swept off her feet by his sweet, polite nature. When Steven meets David, he mistrusts him immediately; it does not help matters when Nicole violates her curfews to spend more time with David. Eventually, while Steven and Laura are on a business trip, Nicole and David sleep together at her home, flagrantly disobeying a house rule about unsupervised guests. One day, David scares Nicole by assaulting her friend Gary Rohmer (Todd Caldecott) upon seeing them hug each other. He shoves Nicole to the ground when she tries to stop him, giving her a black eye. Nicole ends things with David, leaving him crushed, but her father's now-intense opposition to David paradoxically drives her to accept David's apologies. Steven suspiciously checks into David's background and learns that David spent his early life with various foster families, until getting arrested or institutionalized. When David turned 18, he was released from foster care.

Lily is a sheltered art student from Michigan attending college in California. Vanessa Lutz (Witherspoon) is a poor, illiterate teenage girl living in the slums of Los Angeles.
