A remake of Telugu film Chitram (2000), directed by Teja, the film features Ananth Nag alongside newcomers Nagendra Prasad (brother of actor-director Prabhu Deva) and Rekha Vedavyas in the lead roles. The film had the musical score by Gurukiran which was well received. The film, upon release, was well received and declared a blocbuster at the box-office.

In Kenosha, Wisconsin, Ivy, editor at her high school paper, and her long-term boyfriend Seth are in their final year of high school and already have been accepted at good colleges; before Ivy goes to college to study journalism, she will go on a trip to Paris with her mother for her graduation present, while Seth will go to Caltech to study architecture. With the help of Ivy's best friend Laura, Ivy and Seth spend a weekend together, where they sleep together, and Ivy becomes pregnant. They announce the news at Thanksgiving, and neither Ivy's mother Denise, who was abandoned by her husband and brought up Ivy alone, nor Seth's Catholic parents are very supportive. Respectively, they urge the young couple to have an abortion or give up the baby for adoption. Ivy plans to have an abortion, but does not go through with it, much to Seth's relief.

Homer Wells, an orphan, grows up in a Maine orphanage directed by kindly, avuncular Dr. Wilbur Larch. Six years after the events of the previous film, Glen, the kind and gentle son of Chucky and Tiffany, has a nightmare in which he murders a little girl's parents. In reality, he is living a life of embarrassment and abuse as a ventriloquist's dummy from his own point of view. Desperate to know his parents, Glen tracks Chucky and Tiffany down to Hollywood, where they are first shown killing a man who is dressed as Santa Claus for a movie. Upon tracking down his mom and dad, who are now dummies in one of Jennifer Tilly's films, Glen uses a voodoo amulet to bring them back to life. When Chucky (voice of Brad Dourif) finds out that Glen is his child, he faints, while Tiffany is ecstatic and hugs her child. Tiffany and Chucky argue over whether Glen is male or female, due to his lack of genitals (though he is clearly a male). Chucky decides to continue labeling him as a boy, whereas Tiffany labels him as a girl, calling him "Glenda".
