Jim Bowie is sent into Comanche country by the government on a mission to draw up a treaty allowing the government to mine silver on the Indian's turf. Filming was done in and around the Oak Creek Canyon area of Arizona.
Synopsis
Jim Bowie (Macdonald Carey) est envoyé par le Président des États-Unis en territoire Comanche afin de s’assurer que le récent traité de paix passé avec les Indiens est bien respecté. Seulement, on a découvert des gisements d’argent sur cette terre et les colons installés à proximité aimeraient bien mettre la main dessus. Les plus envieux, décident même d’attaquer les Comanches afin de s’emparer du minerai. Jim Bowie, avec l’aide d’un ex-membre du congrès, Dan Seeger (Will Geer), venu dans les parages avec un traité remis au goût du jour, décide de se ranger du côté des Comanches avec l'aide de Katie Howard (Maureen O’Hara), sœur de l'un des meneurs, tout en essayant d’éviter la reprise des guerres indiennes...Actors

In 1909, there is a raid on the McCandles family ranch by a gang of ruthless outlaws led by John Fain. They kidnap Little Jake, the grandson, leaving a ransom note and heading back for Mexico, where they have been hiding out. Martha, the head of the family, is offered the help of both the army and the Texas Rangers in hunting the gang. She replies that this will be "a harsh and unpleasant kind of business and will require an extremely harsh and unpleasant kind of person to see it through." In consequence, she sends for her estranged husband, the aging Jacob "Big Jake" McCandles, a near-legendary gunfighter who wanders the west with his Rough Collie, simply named Dog.

Brian Hawke, an officer aboard the British merchant ship The Monsoon, volunteers for a dangerous mission to infiltrate the pirate's base at Diego-Suarez on the coast of Madagascar. He is to pose as a deserter, and to make his disguise more convincing, he is given twenty lashes. Once he has arrived at Diego-Suarez he is greeted with an air of suspicion by the pirates, especially Captain Roc Brasiliano. Brasiliano orders him to appear before a tribunal of the Coast Captains to decide his fate. If they do not like him, he will be executed. Meanwhile, Hawke has caught the eye of Spitfire Stevens - the only woman amongst the Coast Captains - who inherited her position from her father.

While singing on a radio program sponsored by Alta Vista Oil Company, Gene Autry (Gene Autry) meets a beautiful woman, Anita Loredo (Luana Walters), when her sweater gets caught on his outfit. Forced to stand with him at the microphone while he sings, Anita smiles sweetly at the singing cowboy whose romantic words are directed at her. After the show, Gene learns that Anita helps run an orphanage in Mexico with her uncle, Padre Dominic (William Farnum). She is upset that the orphanage has yet to see any return on their investment in the oil company—money badly needed to help the children. Clay Santell (Audie Murphy) has his horse stolen and stops in the town of Sutterville. Sam Bass débarque dans une petite ville pour y trouver un emploi. Mal reçu par le sheriff du lieu qui n'aime pas les joueurs, il fait la connaissance de Calamity Jane et finit sur la pression de l'entourage à trouver un emploi chez ce même sheriff. Là, il tombe amoureux de la soeur de ce dernier et promet de l'épouser. Avant cela il souhaite faire fortune en acquérant un cheval de course qu'il inscrit à une compétition dans la ville d'Albuquerque. Il y mise non seulement son argent personnel mais aussi celui des ranchers pour lesquels il travaille après s'être querellé avec le sheriff. Malheureusement la course est truquée et Sam Bass doit maintenant récupérer les 16000 dollars correspondants. Il attaque le convoi qui transporte l'argent et est désormais poursuivi pour attaque à main armée, puis pour meurtre.
