The only Korean horror film released over the summer of 2008, it is the first feature by former music video director Chang (real name Yoon Hong-seung), who also co-wrote the screenplay. Death Bell stars Lee Beom-soo in his first horror film role, and K-pop singer Nam Gyu-ri in her acting debut. Set in a Korean high school, the film's native title refers to gosa, the important midterm exams that all students are required to sit.
Synopsis
A group of twenty high school students partake an elite class gearing them for the college exam. Among them are the rebellious Kang I-na, her timid best friend, Yoon Myong-heo, and the class joker, Kang Hyun, who harbors an affection for I-na. After several strange incidents in which I-na is almost strangled by Cho Beom, forcing him to be taken to a mental facility, and a student being throttled in the restroom, the class is interrupted by a TV showing of the top-ranking student, Min Hye-yeong, being trapped in a glass tank that is slowly filled with water. A voice announces that he will pose questions to the class; should they fail to answer them in a given amount of time, they will all be kidnapped and killed one by one, exemplified when they realized that some of the students have fail to attend the class. Also, the security system have been disabled and should any one them and their two teachers, Hwang Chang-wook and Choi So-yeong, attempt to leave the school, they will be killed nonetheless. Three high school boys seem to have little in common, but one day they happen to sit next to each other at the back of the classroom. They soon become good friends, though they are always arguing or teasing each other. Korean gangster Han Ki-Chul (Lee Beom-soo) is put in charge by his Big Boss of looking after Lim Aryong (Shu Qi) who comes from Hong Kong. They expect Lim Aryong to be some big male gangster but she turns out to be a woman and acts very cold toward him and his associates. Moreover none of them speak her language and she doesn't understand Korean. A translator called Yeon-Hee (Hyun Young) arrives. She is immature and very scared of the gangsters so at the beginning, instead of translating Aryong's rather rude answers, she changes them to nice ones. Quickly, Aryong shows her fighting skills beating other bosses to save her companions. Ki-Chul and his associates who are rather unskilled, are impressed and become afraid of her while, upon finding that they are actually nice, she's trying to be more friendly. Her efforts are ruined by Yeon-Hee who, taking advantage of Aryoung's aura, 'translates' very threatening sentences.

Kim Min (Kim Myung-min) soupçonne que des vampires existent en Corée et recherche des informations. Baek Hyun-chul (Lee Beom-soo) is a biotech scientist researching the cure for skin cancer. Deciding to shut the lab and sell Hyun-chul's work overseas, the head of the pharmaceutical conglomerate, Kim Taek-soo, sends Steve Jung and his gang to force the lab to shut down and take the research.
