The story revolves around miser parents (Bank Janardhan and Satyabhama) who want their son (Jaggesh) to marry a rich girl, for dowry. But the son ends up marrying a poor girl, antagonizing his parents. How son changes his parents outlook forms rest of the story. Santosh is the son of Parandamaiah Urbagal (Bank Janardhan) and Subbalakshmi (Satyabhama), who are staunch misers. Parandamaiah owns a shop, called 'Oorubaglu General Stores'. Santosh likes to keep the shop as he loves Sangeetha, daughter of Shankar Shastry, a musician, whose house is opposite Santosh's shop. Santosh spends his time sightseeing (the subject is mostly Sangeetha) and he is hostile towards costumers when he is sightseeing (he calls it 'Dove Hodiyodu', one of his popular dialogues). His friends - 'Chitke' Seena, Raja, 'Razor' Manja, Nanja and 'nanjappan maga' Gunjappa. They help Santosh to gain Sangeetha's affection. However, Parandamaiah and Satyabhama decide to marry Santosh to his uncle's daughter Sundari for dowry. However, Santosh disagrees to marry any girl for dowry as he wants his wife to be the love of his life. Santosh succeeds in marrying Sangeetha by hoodwinking his parents. Later, with the help of his friends, he starts to enjoy his married life. But, Parandamaiah and Satyabhama decide to cheat Santosh and create a feud between Santosh and Sangeetha. They make Sangeetha assume that Santosh is having a sexual relationship with Sundari. Meanwhile, they make Santosh assume Sangeetha is having an extramarital affair. Santosh investigates this and he assumes that Sangeetha is having an affair (the assumed boyfriend was paid by Parandamaiah). Due to this, Sangeetha goes back to her maternal home. Soon Santosh finds out about this, and, with the help of his friends, makes his parents realize that good values are more important than money. Later, after he makes his parents realise their mistake, his uncle finds that Sundari is pregnant. He allegedly accuses Santosh of impregnating Sundari. However, this is not the case as he had told his friends to loaf and flirt with Sundari to enlighten his parents. Later, Santosh arranges for the marriage of Sundari. in the climax, Santosh finds that Gunjappa had impregnated Sundari and he is forced to marry Sundari.

This film is about the life and times of a lazy and jobless middle aged man named Manjunatha ("Manja") who considers his life as an eventual existence rather than a practical, deserving and a capable one. His laziness is portrayed in the film as not a quality but as an ethic imbibed within his general thoughts and notions of the everyday world that surrounds him. Through his formative years his thinking becomes pragmatic in considering that livelihood can always be sought through alternate sources rather than being a puppet to how the world goes about through linear methods of gaining success and money. The other essentially important character in the film is a visually impaired person named Naani (played by Tabla Naani). Although being born blind, he wishes to be a film director. Naani's most positive aspect of the role is that he does not believe that his physical disability could stop him from achieving what he dreams, that is to be a film maker. The film is structured around the lengthy conversation, which happen in a captive lodge room, between Manja and Naani where each depict their ideologies and experiences and co-relate their thoughts. Being a Jaggesh film, the film is no where short in containing blatant satirical humour and constant metaphors. The characters of Manja and Naani form contrasting personalities - Manja being an unmotivated, lazy and irresponsible guy and Naani being optimistic and ambitious. Naani happens to meet Manja in a very interesting scenario. Even with their contrasting personalities, Manja and Naani get along together pretty well.

Suraj,(Ganesh), a funny and loveable character, bumps into Suma,(Shradha Arya),( in a train ) who is to marry Dushyantha, a police inspector. Throughout the journey on the train, Suraj attempts to woo her and ends up getting invited to her wedding. Till the last minutes before her wedding, Suraj tries to woo Suma but she is very fond of Dushyantha and doesn't fall for him. When Dushyantha is about to tie the knot with Suma, he suddenly walks out of the building while dragging Suma along with everyone, including Suraj, watching. He then orders Suma and Suraj to get into a jeep and to not stop driving at any cost. Dushyantha tell everyone that he got an anonymous phone call telling him that, someone has planted bombs in the jeep and in and outside the building. Although after checking they relies it was just some mini bulbs planted and not bombs. Meanwhile, Suraj and Suma's jeep is runs out of fuel, so they grab hold of a overhead branch and are saved, but are stuck in a forest. Dushyantha demands his crew to track down the anonymous phone caller. Back in the forest, Suraj and Suma start bonding while finding here way back. Twenty four hours pass without a sign of Suma or Suraj. Although Dushyantha receives calls from the anonymous caller who is none other then Suraj, which Suma catches red handed and Dushyantha identifies. Suma and Suraj reach a village which is actually Suraj's home town where he revels about Preeti, his late sister who was killed by Dushyantha. He also revels how corrupt and uncivilized Dushyantha is. Dushyantha then arrives at Suraj's home and revels to him privately about himself, unaware that he is being filmed. Suraj then plays his video at Dushyantha and Suma's wedding, where Suraj had come to save a little girl from this village from Dushyantha. Dushyantha is arrested. Suma, her family, Suraj and the little girl are at the train station, where the little girl promise to achieve what Preeti was headed to do( she had been selected to be apart of NASA and was going there when she got shot ). Just before the movie finishes Suma and Suraj unite.
