Synopsis
Marthe et son amant d'une nuit sont les témoins de la chute d'une jeune fille sur la terrasse de l'appartement où ils se rencontrent. Le mage qui occupe le logement de l'étage supérieur manipule Marthe afin d'obtenir son silence sur cet incident dont il porte la responsabilité.Actors

Éric et Serge, deux adolescents lycéens à Paris, s'ennuient dans leurs familles. Éric découvre au dos d'un tableau qui représente sa mère, Florence, la signature d'un peintre qu'il ne connait pas. Intrigué, il rend visite à cet homme, Guy Louvier, ancien ami de sa mère. Guy accueille avec sympathie les deux garçons, qui sont séduits par la liberté de l'artiste. Guy et Florence se revoient et renouent brièvement leur ancienne liaison. Jusqu'au jour où Louvier comprend qu'Éric le prend pour son vrai père. Lorsque le garçon finit par admettre que le peintre n'est pas son père, triste et déçu, il fugue.

Jean-Pierre fait du porte-à-porte pour vendre des assurances. Il attend avec impatience les vacances d'été qu'il doit passer avec sa compagne au bord de la mer. Mais à quelques jours du départ, la grand-mère de celle-ci se casse le col du fémur et elle doit aller l'aider à Tourcoing. Thomas "Babe" Levy (Dustin Hoffman) is a history Ph.D. candidate and avid runner. The film follows the exploits of film actor Jack Noah (Dreyfuss), who is filming in the small, fictional South American country of Parador when Paradorian President Alfonse Simms suddenly dies of a heart attack. Not wanting to lose his position in power, the president's right-hand man, Roberto Strausmann (Juliá) forces Jack to take the 'role of a lifetime' - that of the dead president, as the two men look so much alike. Jack accepts, eventually winning over the people and even the dead president's mistress, Madonna (Braga). However, when paradise proves to be too boring, Jack needs to find a way to get out while keeping Roberto out of the loop.

Returning by ship to Buenos Aires, a young woman escapes her elderly husband by swapping places with a woman committing suicide. She believes her new life will be that of an arranged marriage but finds it is in fact a ruse to cause her to work in a brothel. The film plays on the association of tango with brothels and clearly alludes to the practices of the Zwi Migdal white-slavery and prostitution ring that was active in Buenos Aires early in the twentieth century and was dissolved thanks to Raquel Liberman.
