Synopsis
Jacques et son fils Marc sont deux policiers qui ne peuvent se supporter mais qui doivent travailler ensemble. Leur mission: sauver la vie d'un de leur collègue kidnappé par les motards. La réussite de leur mission passe par Me Charles Bérubé, l'avocat des motards qui est en pleine crise de conscience et semble mûr pour collaborer avec la police. Mais l'avocat est inapprochable. Jacques et Marc changent d'identité, deviennent agents immobilier pour essayer de se rapprocher de lui lors d'une thérapie père/fils en forêt. Réussiront-ils à mettre Bérubé en confiance et le convaincre de dire tout ce qu'il sait?Actors

À la suite d'une opération policière, un agent double est enlevé par des motards criminels. Deux policiers, le père et le fils qui sont incapables de s'entendre, doivent retrouver leur collègue, et leur seule chance est de faire craquer l'avocat des motards, Charles Bérubé (Rémy Girard). Celui-ci, surveillé de près par la police, est sur le point de trahir la bande mais est inapprochable. Cependant, l'avocat est mis au pied du mur par sa conjointe : pour contrer les tendances suicidaires de son fils, il doit passer avec lui une semaine en forêt pour une thérapie de groupe père-fils organisée par un psychologue (Robin Aubert). Les policiers y inscrivent leur couple père-fils dysfonctionnel pour essayer d'amener l'avocat à collaborer.

Luc et Marco, deux humoristes méconnus, font le tour des petites villes du Québec avec leur spectacle respectif ; le premier, blasé et antipathique, est trop cérébral, alors que l'autre, enjoué et dynamique, est trop vulgaire. Un seul numéro, qu'ils exécutent collectivement, a un certain succès auprès de l'auditoire. Il consiste simplement à insulter publiquement un membre de l'assemblée jusqu'à la limite de l'insolence. Malheureusement pour eux, à l'Anse-au-Pic, une petite localité en bordure de la rivière Saguenay, ils humilient Roger Gendron, le cuisinier timide et renfrogné du casse-croûte local.

Beverly Hills LAPD Lieutenant Raymond Tango (Sylvester Stallone) and Downtown Los Angeles Lieutenant Gabriel Cash (Kurt Russell) have earned themselves reputations for disrupting crime lord Yves Perret's smuggling operation in their respective jurisdictions. One day, they are informed of a drug deal taking place later that night. Both detectives meet for the first time at the location, but discover a dead body that is wire-tapped before the FBI arrive and surround the duo. Agent Wyler (Lewis Arquette) finds Cash's backup Walter PPK pistol on the floor with a silencer attached and arrests both Cash and Tango. At their murder trial, Tango and Cash are incriminated by an audio tape, secretly given to Wyler by Perret's henchman Requin and verified in court by an audio expert, which appears to reveal them shooting the undercover FBI agent after discussing a drug purchase. They plead no contest to a lesser charge in exchange for reduced sentences in a minimum-security prison, but are instead transported to a maximum-security prison to be housed with many of the criminals they arrested in the past.

A serial killer/vigilante known as the "Party Crasher" (Stephen Lang) telephones the police, notifying them that he is about to murder another individual at a night club, daring them to stop him. L.A.P.D. Sergeants Martin Riggs (Gibson) and Roger Murtaugh (Glover) arrive at an evacuated building believed to have a bomb in it. Against orders, they go inside to investigate the bomb. Riggs decides to deactivate the bomb himself instead of waiting for the Bomb Squad to arrive. Unfortunately, he causes the bomb to detonate and the whole building to collapse. This causes them to be demoted to uniform duties, which upsets Murtaugh because he only has seven days until retirement. While on street patrol, the two thwart a robbery using a duplicate armored car, although they only manage to catch one of the two would-be thieves. During the arrest, it is discovered the criminals were armed with a new type of armor-piercing bullet, informally referred to as "cop killers". For their efforts in stopping the raid, Riggs and Murtaugh are reinstated as Detective Sergeants by their superior, Captain Murphy (Kahan). Murphy introduces internal affairs Sergeant Lorna Cole (Russo) to the two detectives and informs them that the suspect they have in custody from the raid is a known associate of former L.A.P.D. Lieutenant and suspected arms dealer: Jack Travis (Wilson).

Lorna Cole (Rene Russo) is pregnant with LAPD sergeant Martin Riggs' baby; they are not married, but both are thinking about it. Police sergeant Roger Murtaugh's daughter Rianne (Tracie Wolfe), is also pregnant, and Riggs later learns from Lorna that Rianne has secretly married Lee Butters (Chris Rock), a young detective who works at the same station as Murtaugh and Riggs – secretly because Roger had made it clear that he does not want his daughter to marry a police officer. Due to the many disasters caused by both sergeants while on duty, the police department has lost its insurance carrier, and cannot get a new one while they're still out on the streets. Because firing them is not an option, the Chief uses a special privilege and they get temporarily promoted to captains, given that there aren't any lieutenant spots available.
