Synopsis
Faybien Allen is a young gay man of Haitian descent living in Jersey City. Lacking direction in his life, Faybien constantly questions his aspirations as he isn't quite sure who he is. Still living at home with his overbearing, homophobic father and grieving the loss of his mother, his self-esteem begins to sink as he works at a dead end job and misses an important job interview. Faybien finds love and support through his friends, Greg Marsh and Amera Jones. Greg, a free-spirited bisexual and an amazing sous chef, is Faybien's best friend. He serves as a voice of reason to Faybien, always telling it like it is through his self-confidence. Amera is an outspoken, aspiring singer with a big heart. She and Greg are polar opposites and bicker as if they were a married couple but both are always there for Faybien in time of need. When Faybien is overwhelmed by the temperament of his father, he finds himself staying with Greg on numerous occasions.Comments

Viola Hastings (Amanda Bynes) is a smart-mouthed high school soccer player at Cornwall, which suddenly cuts its girls' team. After her request to join the boys' team is refused by the sexist coach, she finds a way to play for Cornwall's rivals, Illyria, an elite boarding school team that her twin brother, Sebastian (James Kirk), is supposed to enroll at as a new student. However, he is hoping to go to a contest in London with his fledging band, so he asks Viola to cover for him by telling the school that he is sick. She agrees but, unbeknownst to him, decides to pass herself off as Sebastian instead, in hopes of beating Cornwall and humiliating her cocky ex-boyfriend, Justin (Robert Hoffman). With the help of her stylist friend, Paul (Jonathan Sadowski), she is transformed into "Sebastian" and joins Illyria in his place.

Set in New York City spanning six or seven months, Greg (Daniel Carlisle) has just moved in with his girlfriend Molly (Emily Peck). A 50-year-old business man Léopold (Bernard Giraudeau) arrives home with 20-year-old Franz (Malik Zidi), whom he has just met. Franz is not quite sure why he agreed to come home with Léopold as he is supposed to be meeting his fiancée Anna, but he accepts drinks from Léopold and they begin to get to know each other. Franz tells Léopold that he is not sure whether or not he loves Anna, that he does not really enjoy sex with her, finding more pleasure in books, theatre and life in general. Léopold asks him if he has ever slept with a man. Franz says he has not, but describes a dream where a man comes into his bedroom in an overcoat and has sex with him. Léopold says that although he once lived with a woman for seven years, he has always found sex with men more exciting. They kiss, and Léopold tells Franz to get undressed and into bed. He then appears beside the bed in an overcoat ready to re-enact Franz's dream.
