Both film and book portray Borniche's nine-year pursuit of French gangster and murderer Emile Buisson, who was executed on February 28, 1956. Directed by Jacques Deray, the film stars Alain Delon and Jean-Louis Trintignant as Borniche and Buisson respectively, supported by Claudine Auger and André Pousse.
Synopsis
Flic Story follows a nine-year pursuit of Emile Buisson through France during the 1940s and 1950s, and illustrates the pursuit as a battle of intellect, focusing on a growing rapport between Buisson and the protagonist Borniche. Deray's humanizing of the characters was a trait used in his other films, and was a popular counter-cliché concept in France during the 1970s.Actors

Roch Siffredi, chef de gang très en vue à Marseille, vient d'ouvrir un établissement somptueux qui lui promettrait des jours heureux dans cette ville, s'il ne venait d'enterrer son ami et associé François Capella à la fin du premier Borsalino. Il jure de le venger. Il apprend qu'un certain Giovanni Volpone, récemment arrivé à Marseille, est à l'origine du meurtre. Le commissaire Fanti passe voir Siffredi après la mort de Capella. Il constate la réussite du truand et admire le nouvel établissement : il a une certaine estime pour Roch, mais quand des évènements agitent le milieu, sa politique est de laisser les truands s'entretuer ! Il informe cependant Siffredi que Volpone est un homme dangereux : le gangster italien, semble avoir des ambitions sur la ville de Marseille; il a des moyens importants tant en hommes qu'en finance et des soutiens politiques efficaces dans la période qui précède la guerre. Volpone est en relation avec le fascisme international. Il a le projet de « nettoyer » la ville et d'en faire une base expérimentale pour préparer une ère nouvelle.

Un professeur d'université, Alexandre Lenski, est arrêté par la police soviétique parce qu'il est chrétien. Jean-Paul, a writer and Marianne, his girlfriend of just over two years, are holidaying at a friend's villa. There is a tension in their relationship which excites Marianne: the film begins with a scene in which they are together beside the villa's swimming pool and she urges him to claw her back. He does as she asks, but then throws her into the pool and jumps in after her. In a later scene he takes a branch and uses it to lash her bare buttocks, playfully but with a force that increases as the scene cuts away.
