Synopsis
The film follows four high school students who, upon graduating from high school, realize that they’ve missed out on life experiences by always being the “good kids”, and decide to completely reinvent themselves in order to enjoy their last time together before heading off to college.Actors

The movie starts with a voice-over of Jane Goodale (Ashley Judd) over the images of a scientific experiment with a bull and a herd of cows, apparently the bull never mounts a cow twice, not even if her scent is changed. He prefers a new cow. Jane says that until recently, she believed that men are all like the bull, but to understand what happened we have to go back in time. Jane is a production assistant with a talk show that has recently been syndicated, which means that the host Diane Roberts (Ellen Barkin) who wants to be the best, is always looking for the ungettable guests, like Fidel Castro. Eddie Alden (Hugh Jackman) is the producer of the talk show and is a womanizer, much to the dismay of Jane who comments on his actions with amicable critique.

A bank is simultaneously attacked by two groups of robbers: three high-tech professionals and two rustic buffoons. One bystander is quickly shot and killed, apparently by accident, and seven hostages taken. One of the hostages, an obsessive-compulsive customer, notices several puzzling details, from which he guesses that the coincidence was intentional: the robbers (among others) were lured here, with misleading blueprints and defective equipment, so that another criminal – at the top of the FBI's wanted list of bank robbers – could kill them to cover his own trail.

George Kuffs (Slater) is an irresponsible 21-year-old high school dropout from San Francisco who walks out on his pregnant girlfriend Maya Carlton (Jovovich). Having lost his last job and with no prospects he visits his brother Brad (Bruce Boxleitner), who serves as an officer in the San Francisco Patrol Special Police, a civilian auxiliary police unit that sees potential officers assign themselves specific areas and work on a for-hire basis. Brad is not willing to loan George any money, though, and suggests George join him as a Patrol Special and work under him.
