Histoire, conseils et démonstrations d'alpinisme dans le massif du Mont Blanc par les guides renommés de l'Ecole Nationale de Ski et d'Alpinisme de Chamonix. Le film commence par un résumé historique illustrant les aspirations et les méthodes qui conduisent l'homme à conquérir la montagne. Armand Charlet enseigne les techniques d'alpinisme et emmène ses élèves sur le terrain pour des exercices sur glacier ou rocher. Gaston Rebuffat fait des démonstrations d'ascensions particulièrement dangereuses. En altitude, les gens évoluent dans la solitude, le froid et le silence, comme des acrobates de cirque sans spectateurs, mais rien n'arrête l'alpiniste moderne.

Return of the Ewok focuses on the fictional account of Davis' decision to become an actor and act as Wicket in Return of the Jedi (notably, however, Davis refers to the film as Revenge of the Jedi, its temporary pre-release title). It also follows his transformation into Wicket. As Warwick and as Wicket, he visits and interacts with many of the cast and crew of the movie and then characters of the movie. As Warwick, he goes to Elstree Studios where he interacts with the cast, both in and out of character. At one point, he even interacts with Luke Skywalker as he jumps out of a movie screen. As Wicket, he goes to Dagobah to see Yoda, and the Death Star to see Darth Vader, and is chased by Boba Fett.

In the directors' own words, Chang is a "melodrama with man, the jungle, and wild animals as its cast." Kru, the farmer depicted in the film, battles leopards, tigers, and even a herd of elephants, all of which pose a constant threat to his livelihood. As filmmakers, Cooper and Schoedsack attempted to capture real life with their cameras, though they often re-staged events that had not been captured adequately on film. The danger was real to all the people and animals involved. Tigers, leopards, and bears are slaughtered on camera, while the film's climax shows Kru's house being demolished by a stampeding elephant.
