Hollywood Party, also known under its working title of Hollywood Revue of 1933 and Star Spangled Banquet, is a 1934 American Pre-Code musical film starring Laurel and Hardy, Jimmy Durante, Lupe Vélez and Mickey Mouse (voiced by an uncredited Walt Disney. It was distributed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. The film is notable for several disconnected sequences that have little connection with each other. Each sequence featured a different star with a separate scriptwriter and director assigned.

Synopsis

Jungle movie star "Schnarzan" (Durante), a character in parody of Tarzan, is advised by his manager he needs new lions for his pictures, as his old ones are "worn out". At a wild Hollywood party with many varied guests, including a "lion provider", hilarity ensues. After it all gets out of hand, Schnarzan awakens to find he is just plain old Durante, who had a strange dream.

Avec l'arrivée du cinéma parlant et les prémices du Technicolor les grandes compagnies cinématographiques hollywoodiennes décidèrent de mettre en chantier ce que l'on n'appelait pas encore "superproduction". De fait il s'agissait de réunir dans un même film l'ensemble des acteurs composant leurs écuries respectives. Ainsi la Warner Bros. fit-elle réaliser son The Show of Shows tandis que de son côté La Métro sortait Hollywood chante et danse rassemblant ses comédiens parmi lesquels naturellement Stan Laurel et Oliver Hardy. Pas de scénario dans ce fil qui est composé d'une succession de numéros musicaux pour lesquels les acteurs furent invités à faire un peu le contraire de ce qu'ils faisaient d'habitude à l'écran. Laurel et Hardy s'en tirent plutôt bien en jouant les présentateurs magiciens.

Kay Kyser, his band, and several entertainers begin a tour of overseas U.S. military forces. In Australia, the group is approached by a stranded American teen-ager, Marcy McGuire, who pleads with Kyser for him to take her with them when they leave. Kyser refuses, but this does not deter McGuire, who stows away on the group's plane heading for India. When she is discovered, the American authorities insist she be returned to Australia, but Kyser agrees to take responsibility for her.
