Synopsis
L’action se déroule à Québec. Lucie Champagne joue le rôle de la victime pendant le tournage d’un film fondé sur la réelle histoire d’un meurtre non résolu. Coïncidence, le voisin de Lucie était l’ami de cœur de la victime : Marie-Claire. Dans l’enquête qui se poursuit, il continue d’être suspect. Lui-même en vient à douter de sa propre innocence malgré l’alibi fourni par Claude, une amie de cœur précédente. Pendant que le test du polygraphe est invalide pour François et qu’il attend pour un second test, le film est à se conclure avec sa propre version sur l’identité du meurtrier de Marie-Claire.Actors

The film is set in 1970 at the height of the FLQ bombings in Montreal, known as the October Crisis. During the Crisis, Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau instituted the War Measures Act, which resulted in martial law on the streets of Montreal. The central character, Sophie (Anne-Marie Cadieux), is an actress working in Osaka, Japan at Expo '70, while her boyfriend Michel (Alexis Martin) is an FLQ sympathizer. Sophie discovers that she is pregnant and phones Michel, but before she can tell him, two FLQ friends suddenly turn up at his apartment looking for a place to hide, and Michel has to hang up. Sophie, who is unaware of the crises happening in Montreal, is upset by Michel apparently not wanting to talk to her, and isn't even sure if he is the father. She has to decide whether to stay and get an abortion in Japan, where abortion is legal, or keep the baby and return to Montreal the next day as planned. Meanwhile, she has to avoid the advances of fellow actor François-Xavier (Éric Bernier) and survive a dinner with Canadian ambassador Walter (Richard Fréchette) and his difficult wife Patricia (Marie Gignac). Sophie's interpreter friend Hanako (Marie Brassard), a Japanese woman blinded by the atomic bomb in Hiroshima, is preparing to move to Vancouver with her Canadian interpreter boyfriend. In the meantime, in Montreal, Michel's two friends are plotting to set off a bomb, but they end up blowing up Michel's apartment by mistake.

Michelle, qui souffre de schizophrénie, partage sa vie entre sa librairie de livres d’occasion et l’hôpital. Dans sa boutique, elle aime échanger des propos sur la littérature avec ses clients. L’art la rattache à la vie. Sa sœur, Marie, chanteuse de jazz, s’inquiète pour elle et craint qu’elle oublie ses antidépresseurs. De son côté, Marie doit être opérée pour une tumeur au cerveau. The opening of the film shows us a montage of Adolf Hitler's life from the years 1899-1907. The 10-year old Hitler (Thomas Sangster) is shown to be arrogant and disobedient. He has a stern, ill-tempered father, Alois Hitler (Ian Hogg), and a doting mother, Klara Hitler (Stockard Channing), who indulges his dreams of becoming a great artist. One day, his father dies of a heart attack but the young Hitler shows no empathy or concern. Seven years later, a 17-year old Hitler (Simon Sullivan) applies unsuccessfully to the Vienna Arts Academy but is told he lacks the talent to become an artist. Following his mother’s death, he moves to Vienna permanently but is unable to find work and soon becomes destitute and homeless. Influenced by the city’s prevalent anti-semitism, young Hitler becomes convinced that the Jews and immigrants are to blame for his misfortunes.
