Leoni al sole is a 1961 Italian comedy drama film. It is the directorial debut of Vittorio Caprioli.

In 2008 the film was selected to enter the list of the 100 Italian films to be saved.

In 2008 it was restored and shown as part of the retrospective "Questi fantasmi: Cinema italiano ritrovato" at the 65th Venice International Film Festival.

Synopsis

À Positano, un groupe de « séducteurs » tente sans succès de séduire de jeunes touristes. À la fin de la saison estivale, les plages se dépeuplent et chacun reprend sa vie ordinaire ponctué par le farniente et par le souvenir d'espoirs déçus.

The story is set in Rome in 1900. In a seedy area of the city, "borgataro" Nino Patroni, called in Roman dialect "Er Più of Borgo Santo Spirito", seeks to marry a fellow rogue with his sister. Nino also tries to fix himself with the beautiful turbines Rosa, but the girl is disputed by the protagonist with the squire Augustarello, leader of a gang of thugs in the village adverse to that of Nino.
