In the film, Koch, a young English teacher at a secondary school in late 19th century Braunschweig, German Empire, introduces his students to the new sport of football to enthuse them for the English language and culture. Koch's liberal methods alienate his conservative colleagues, parents and local dignitaries.
Synopsis
A la fin du XIXe siècle, Konrad Koch, un professeur d'anglais, revient d'un séjour en Grande-Bretagne. Il vient de découvrir un nouveau sport appelé le football. A son arrivée à Brunswick en Allemagne, il décide de faire découvrir aux élèves de son école ce «jeu de pied barbare». Après être restés quelques instants sceptiques devant le ballon, les élèves sont finalement séduits par cette activité. Les méthodes d'enseignement anti-autoritaire, voire pacifiste, de leur jeune professeur leur plaisent énormément. Elles bousculent les traditions scolaires rigides pour laisser la place à l'épanouissement personnel de chacun.Actors

James Hunt and Niki Lauda are two highly skilled racing car drivers who first develop a fierce rivalry in 1970 at a Formula Three race at the Crystal Palace circuit in Britain, when both their cars spin out and Hunt eventually wins the race. Hunt is a brash, young Englishman with a tendency to vomit before every race, while Lauda is a cool, calculating Austrian technical genius who relies on precision. After a falling out with his father, Lauda takes a large bank loan and buys his way into the British Racing Motors Formula One team, meeting teammate Clay Regazzoni for the first time. Meanwhile, Hesketh Racing, the fledgling racing team Hunt drives for, enters Formula One as well. Lauda then joins Scuderia Ferrari with Regazzoni and wins his first championship in 1975. Hesketh closes shop after failing to secure a sponsor, but Hunt joins McLaren when Emerson Fittipaldi leaves the team. During this time, Hunt marries supermodel Suzy Miller, while Lauda develops a relationship with German socialite Marlene Knaus.

Viola Hastings (Amanda Bynes) is a smart-mouthed high school soccer player at Cornwall, which suddenly cuts its girls' team. Alors que la Coupe du monde de football 1998 est disputée en France, Palden et Nyima, deux jeunes tibétains ayant fui leur pays arrivent dans un monastère bouddhiste au nord de l'Inde. Ils y reçoivent leur ordination à la vie monastique, mais celle-ci va rapidement laisser place à la passion du football. Palden se retrouve entraîné par Orgyen, son camarade de chambre, à regarder la nuit le match des quarts de finale dans le village voisin. Sur le chemin du retour, ils sont pris sur le fait par le geko, le maître de discipline du monastère, qui les punit. Avec l’approche de la finale, Orgyen réussit, non sans peine, à autoriser la diffusion de la finale de la Coupe du Monde au monastère. Ne possédant cependant pas de télévision, une course contre la montre commence afin de récolter assez d’argent pour en louer une. Après de nombreux obstacles, les résidents du monastère réussissent finalement par regarder la finale France-Brésil tous ensemble.

En 1998, « l'Espoir Club Borretti », petit club des quartiers de Marseille, est menacé de dissolution. En effet, le manque d'adhérents et de moyens fait que la mairie projette d'implanter une piscine municipale en lieu et place du terrain de football. Mais les Borretti, père et fils, vont tout faire pour sauver leur club. Les trois amis vont tenter le plus rapidement possible de recruter des joueurs. Hélas pour eux, seuls des joueurs de piètre niveau et aux personnalités atypiques sont présents le jour du recrutement. Ils réalisent alors que, pour gagner la compétition, tous les coups devront être permis.
