Life Feels Good (Polish: Chce się żyć) is a 2013 Polish drama film directed by Maciej Pieprzyca.

It won the jury, audience and ecumenical prizes at the Montreal World Film Festival.

Synopsis

It tells the story of Mateusz Rosiński who has cerebral palsy in Poland and his life from the 1980s to 2000s. It is inspired by true events.

Inspiré de fait réels. Le tueur en série Zdzisław Marchwicki (1927–1977), surnommé « le Vampire de Zagłębie », sévit en Pologne entre 1964 et 1970. Sa dernière victime s'avère être la nièce du premier secrétaire du parti communiste. Un jeune et ambitieux lieutenant, Janusz Jasinski, est chargé de cette affaire brûlante et il est prêt à tout pour l'arrêter. Pourtant, lorsqu'il réussit à capturer l'assassin présumé, il connaît un moment de gloire et obtient les bonnes grâces de ses supérieurs. Il fera tout pour ne pas les perdre même si cela veut dire garder en prison un homme innocent...

Karol Borowiecki (Daniel Olbrychski), a young Polish nobleman, is the managing engineer at the Bucholz textile factory. He is ruthless in his career pursuits and unconcerned with the long tradition of his, now financially declined, family. He plans to set up his own factory with the help of his friends Max Baum (Andrzej Seweryn), a German and heir to an old handloom factory, and Moritz Welt (Wojciech Pszoniak), an independent Jewish businessman. Borowiecki's affair with Lucy Zucker (Kalina Jędrusik), wife of another textile magnate, gives him advance notice of a change in cotton tariffs and helps Welt to make a killing on the Hamburg futures market. But more money has to be found, so all three characters cast aside their pride to raise the necessary capital.
