Synopsis
Ludivine Lauderin, fille étrange, souhaite que le père Leherg et son fils Delphin se noient. L'océan les engloutit mais Delphin est rejeté sur le rivage. Prise de remords, Ludivine recueille Delphin chez ses parents. L'amour naît entre les deux jeunes mais le père Bucaille, ivrogne, destine sa fille au tenancier d'une boîte : Lauderin. Ludivine s'imagine que Delphin la trahit, elle accepte de se fiancer à Lauderin. Mais l'amour est le plus fort. Alors qu'un ouragan se déchaine, Delphin tue l'effrayant Lauderin. Ludivine et Delphin rescapés de la tempête offiront un ex-voto à la Vierge avant leur union.Actors

In the Kingdom of Iraq in 1935, British troops are stationed to protect the convoy route to India from rebel incursions. After spending three years in under-cover activities in the region, Lieutenant Brent, a British officer, has fallen under suspicion of treacherous dealings with the enemy but has been cleared by a military tribunal. He joins the garrison in Iraq commanded by Colonel Stark, but is embarrassed to meet there his former lover, Joyce, who is now the colonel's wife. During an operation to recapture the rebel stronghold of Ksour, Brent is inadvertently compromised with Joyce, and when he and her brother Dan attempt to protect her reputation, Brent becomes suspected of treason by the cynical Major Hudson. Brent escapes during a rebel attack, and using his experience to infiltrate the enemy fortress he disables its armaments and facilitates its capture.

Philippe Lutcher, an anarchist, fires a shot at Clara Stuart, a famous stage and screen actress, but only wounds her. The star, through affectation and curiosity to know his motives, pleads in his favour at his trial, but he rebuffs her pity. After he has served 18 months in prison, they meet and fall in love. Philippe however does not really believe in Clara's sincerity, and when he sees incidents from their lives becoming part of her latest film, he leaves her. He vows that their love will continue when he sits in the dark and watches her on the cinema screen.
