Synopsis
Gilles Gabriel, chanteur et ancienne gloire des années 1980 en plein come-back, est tué en voiture à cause d'une collision avec Jean-Christian Ranu, un petit comptable de la COGIP. Mais Gilles n'est pas « réellement » mort : son esprit a atterri dans le corps de Jean-Christian, qui ne comprend pas d'où vient cette voix dans sa tête. De son côté, Gilles n'a aucun contrôle sur les mouvements de son hôte. Gilles et Jean-Christian vont vite se rendre à l'évidence qu'ils n'ont rien en commun, sauf ce corps à partager. C'était déjà compliqué chacun de son côté… alors maintenant, dans la même personne…Actors

Au milieu des années 1920 dans un petit village fictif de Provence perdu dans la garrigue, Les Bastides Blanches, Ugolin revient du service militaire. Ce jeune paysan a un rêve : gagner de l'argent en cultivant des œillets. Son oncle, César Soubeyran, dit « le Papet », est un vieux célibataire prêt à tout pour que son neveu réussisse et se marie, afin que se transmette son nom, dont Ugolin est l'unique héritier. François Pignon, an unassuming divorced man with a teenage son who ignores him, lives a quiet and unremarkable life. When he learns he will be fired from his job as an accountant in a rubber factory, he contemplates suicide, but his new neighbor Jean-Pierre Belone, a former industrial psychologist, dissuades him from jumping from his balcony and suggests a way to keep his position. Belone proposes that Pignon start a rumor he is homosexual by inserting his image in sexually provocative snapshots of a gay couple in a bar and anonymously mailing them to his boss, Mr. Kopel. The factory's primary product is condoms, so the gay community's support is essential, and Kopel will have to keep Pignon on the payroll to avoid charges of anti-homosexual bigotry.

Romuald Blindet est le PDG de l'entreprise de produits laitiers Blanlait. Juliette Bonaventure, antillaise, est la femme de ménage de l'immeuble où se trouve la société. Elle élève seule ses cinq enfants dans une cité HLM. Elle découvre par hasard que le staff de Romuald est impliqué dans une louche affaire boursière et d'empoisonnement des yaourts. Elle en informe Romuald qui ne prend d'abord pas au sérieux les accusations d'une simple femme de ménage, d'autant plus qu'elle accuse également l'épouse de Romuald de le tromper (sans lui reprocher pour autant d'avoir lui-même une liaison avec sa secrétaire). Découvrant le pot aux roses, Romuald, traqué par la Brigade financière, se réfugie chez Juliette et sollicite son aide pour prouver son innocence. Juliette accepte et regarde sans mot dire Romuald prendre ses aises chez elle sans lever le petit doigt pour l'aider au quotidien. Blanchi de toute accusation, il repart, laissant quelques billets sur la table. Juliette veut faire appel à lui pour l'aider à sortir de prison son fils aîné impliqué dans un trafic de drogue. Mais Romuald est parti aux États-Unis pour plusieurs semaines et sa nouvelle secrétaire, raciste, ne transmet pas le message. Quand Romuald revient, c'est le temps des découvertes : l'identité de l'amant de sa femme, l'idiotie mesquine de sa secrétaire, son amour pour Juliette. Il la demande en mariage mais elle le repousse en lui débitant ses quatre vérités. Romuald joue finement en se mettant les enfants de Juliette dans la poche. Juliette finit par céder et tout se finit à la mairie devant une assemblée bourgeoise stupéfaite de cette union entre deux êtres que tout, a priori, séparait.

The film opens with an image of a wooden toy horse. Gradually we observe that this is an assembly line in a prison, staffed by prisoners. They sing (La liberté, c'est pour les heureux = "Freedom is for the happy") as they work. Close-ups of two prisoners (Louis and Émile, the film's main protagonists) indicate they've taken a work tool. The prisoner next to Louis occasionally looks on, looking somewhat bored. After dinner everyone goes back to their cell. After feigning sleep during a guard's nightly rounds, Louis and Émile sing the title song as they resume a project of sawing off the prison window. Émile cuts himself, and Louis kindly mends the wound with a handkerchief. The window breaks free and they attempt to escape. Louis is able to get over the retaining wall, but Émile is not successful. Louis escapes, accidentally knocks someone off a bicycle, and rides off on the bicycle. Meanwhile we hear a chorus suggesting he's about to be captured (Ce sera bientôt fini = "It'll soon be over"). Louis heads into a village emblazoned with the words "Finishing Line" - the cyclist he knocked over was in a bicycle race, and Louis has won first prize.

In the kingdom of Frell, a baby girl is born to Sir Peter and his wife Lady Eleanor. They name her Ella. A NASA spacecraft has landed on an unknown planet and begins to take rock and soil samples. Four aliens discover it and are sucked up through its vacuum, after which it makes its way back to Earth. The aliens are able to escape from a military base by using their powers (with which they can destroy or heal anything they touch). During the escape, the youngest one hides in a passing van, occupied by a wheelchair-bound boy named Eric Cruise, his older brother, Michael, and their single mother, Janet, who are moving to California from Illinois.
