Moscow Nights is a 1935 British drama film directed by Anthony Asquith and starring Laurence Olivier, Penelope Dudley-Ward and Harry Baur. During the First World War a wounded Russian officer Captain Ignatoff falls in love with his nurse. In the United States it was known under the alternative title of I Stand Condemned.

Synopsis

Moscou, pendant la Première Guerre mondiale. Une infirmière accepte d'épouser Briokoff, un profiteur de guerre, pour sauver le capitaine Ignatoff dont elle est amoureuse et qui est accusé d'espionnage. Mais Briokoff finira par disculper Ignatoff lors de son témoignage.

The story begins with Aylward (Ingrid Bergman) being rejected as a potential missionary to China because of her lack of education. Dr. Robinson (Moultrie Kelsall), the senior missionary, feels sorry for her and secures her a position in the home of a veteran explorer with contacts in China. Over the next few months, Aylward saves her money to purchase a ticket on the Trans-Siberian railway, choosing the more dangerous overland route to the East because it is less expensive.
