My Dog Skip is a 2000 American family drama film, directed by Jay Russell. It is based on the autobiographical book My Dog Skip by Willie Morris. The movie was released March 3, 2000. The movie recounts a few anecdotes about nine-year-old Willie growing up in Yazoo City, Mississippi. The son of a veteran of the Spanish Civil War and a housewife, Willie is the daily victim of three school bullies. Then one day the title character, a dog he names Skip (bought by his mother over his dad's objections) comes into his life, and everything changes. The dog is Willie's entry into a world of new and even stronger and closer friendships. Thus, Skip teaches him that the strongest and truest friendships can be just as wonderful and precious like life.
Synopsis
Willie Morris as an adult is looking back on his childhood in the early 1940s and how it was colored by his dearly beloved dog, a Jack Russell Terrier whom he had named Skip (Enzo). In the beginning, Willie (Frankie Muniz) is a lonely child with a gruff, proud father (Kevin Bacon) and a charismatic, talkative mother (Diane Lane), but he is an only child and small for his age with few friends. His one companion is a young man who lives next door, Dink Jenkins (Luke Wilson), who is the local sports hero in Mississippi. However, when Dink is drafted to go to war, Willie's mother decides to buy him a dog, against his father's wishes, in order that he should have some company.Actors

The plot revolves around a 15-year-old girl named Winnie Foster, who is from a proper, upper-class family living in the town of Treegap. Set in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the film begins in a diner called Bennys Billiards, where local tough guy Rusty James is told by Midget that rival group leader Biff Wilcox wants to meet him that night in an abandoned garage lot for a fight. In 1965 Tulsa, Oklahoma, Greasers are a gang of tough, low-income working-class teens. They include Ponyboy Curtis (Howell) and his two older brothers, Sodapop (Lowe) and Darrel (Swayze), as well as Johnny Cade (Macchio), Dallas Winston (Dillon), Two-Bit Matthews (Estevez), and Steve Randle (Cruise). Their rivalry is with the Socs (pronounced /ˈsoʊʃɪz/ soh-shiz), a gang of wealthier kids from the other side of town. Two Socs, Bob Sheldon (Garrett) and Randy Adderson (Dalton), confront Johnny, Ponyboy, and Two-Bit, who are talking to the Socs' girlfriends, Cherry (Lane) and Marcia (Meyrink), at a drive-in theater. The girls defuse the situation by going home with the Socs. Later that night, Ponyboy and Johnny are attacked in a park by Bob, Randy, and three other Socs. They begin dunking Ponyboy in a fountain, but Johnny pulls out his switchblade and stabs Bob, accidentally killing him.
