Synopsis
À Paris, après avoir remporté la compétition internationale de musique Platini, Chiaki est engagé comme chef de l'orchestre Roux-Marlet. Cependant, il est très vite choqué par leur manque de motivation. Pendant ce temps, Nodame, Frank, Tanya et Kuroki s'entraînent durement au Conservatoire de Paris afin de préparer leurs examens finaux. Chiaki appelle par conséquent à Nodame afin qu'elle effectue quelques remplacements au piano pour lui, ce qui ne manque pas de la décourager. Un sentiment qui ne fait que s'accroître tandis que Rui Son prend une importance au sein du Conservatoire suite à une coïncidence inattendue. Alors que la date de la prochaine performance de l'orchestre Roux-Marlet approche à grands pas, Chiaki ne se doute pas du terrible destin qui l'attend.Actors

The Katakuris are a four-generation family of failures: patriarch Masao Katakuri (Kenji Sawada), his wife Terue (Keiko Matsuzaka), his father Jinpei (Tetsurō Tamba), his formerly criminal son Masayuki (Shinji Takeda), his divorced daughter Shizue (Naomi Nishida), her child Yurie (Tamaki Miyazaki, who narrates the film), and their dog, Pochi. The family uses the father's redundancy pay to purchase a large old home situated on a former garbage dump near Mount Fuji that they have named the ‘White Lover's Inn'. They have the intention of converting it into a bed & breakfast, since the road running nearby is supposed to be expanded up to the house, which would bring many guests and tourists. However, the road hasn't been expanded yet and the Katakuris subsequently have no guests. When one finally shows up, a TV personality, sans clothes, he subsequently commits suicide during the night, and the Katakuris make the decision to save their business by burying the body and concealing the death. The second guest, a Sumo wrestler, also dies of a heart attack during a tryst with his underage girlfriend, who also dies.

On a hot summer's day, 13 schoolgirls are bored in a remedial math class. One girl, Tomoko, watches the school's brass band leave to perform at a baseball game, but they have forgotten their bento lunches. Tomoko and the other girls persuade their teacher, Mr Ozawa, to let them deliver the lunches. On the train, Tomoko eats a lunch, and the girls fall asleep and miss their stop. By the time they deliver the lunches to the swing band, they have spoiled, and all 42 band members become sick. Only the cymbal player, Nakamura, whose lunch Tomoko ate, is unaffected.

In the early 80s Alice Kinnon (Chloë Sevigny) and Charlotte Pingress (Kate Beckinsale), two young Hampshire College graduates. work in a New York publishing house as poorly paid readers. After work they are able to enter an exclusive disco nightclub where Alice is hoping to meet Jimmy Steinway (Mackenzie Astin), who works in advertising and uses the nightclub to entertain clients. Waltzes from Vienna begins the sound of the fire brigade horn and the clip-clop of horses’ hooves, as the firemen race towards a fire at Ebezeder’s Café. Upstairs from the café, Rasi and Schani are oblivious to the danger, lost in a love duet that concludes with Schani telling Rasi that he has dedicated his newest song to her. At the same time, Schani’s music attracts the attention of the Countess Helga von Stahl, who is shopping in the dressmaker’s store next door. Schani and Rasi’s romantic interlude is interrupted by Leopold, a baker in Rasi’s father's café who is in love with Rasi, as he awkwardly climbs up the ladder to save her. Schani and Leopold argue over who will save Rasi from the fire, but Leopold eventually wins and hauls Rasi over his shoulder and down the ladder, causing her to lose her skirt on the way. Rasi races to the dressmaker’s shop to get away from the laughter of the onlookers. Schani retrieves Rasi’s skirt and then stumbles into the dressmaker’s in search of Rasi, where he meets the Countess. When the Countess learns that Schani is an aspiring musician, she proposes that he set some of her verses to music. As the Countess offers Schani her card, Rasi enters the room and becomes immediately suspicious of the Countess’s intentions.

Kelly is a struggling young jazz dancer and, through her gay friend Adam, she is introduced to two Street dancers, Ozone and Turbo), who have a bitter rivalry with another crew known as Electro Rock, consisting of poppers Popin' Pete, Poppin' Taco, and Lollipop. Janie Barlow (Joan Crawford) is a young dancer who is reduced to stripping in a burlesque show.
