Nothing But Pleasure is the third short subject American comedian Buster Keaton made for Columbia Pictures. Keaton made a total of ten films for the studio between 1939 and 1941.

Synopsis

Clarence Plunkett (Buster) and his wife (Dorothy Appleby) drive to Detroit to buy a new car. To save money on the shipping fee, they decide to drive it back home.

Keaton plays an American Civil War veteran named Homer Cobb, who tells his story of being a Kentucky youth who enlisted in the Confederate Army, but discovered that his brother, Cyrus Cobb (Monte Collins) joined the Union Army. The Stooges are thrown out of their apartment (literally) and the Landlord will not allow them to get their belongings until they pay 8 months of back rent. Desperate to make money Moe reads an article in the newspaper about a man who slipped on a bar of soap in a hotel lobby and successfully sued the hotel. The Stooges find a bar of soap in the street and arrived at a hotel in an attempt to stage an accidental slip and sue. Before carrying out their plan the Stooges find out the hotel is run by an old lady who is about to lose the hotel to the landlord as she owes him money and can't attract new customers because the hotel is run down and she can't afford the repairs. The trio then decide to help her fix up the place and start by beating up the landlord and stealing his watch and the small amount of money the lady just paid him.

The Stooges are unsuccessful fish salesmen. After becoming fed up with it all, they decide to go into the saloon business. When Curly tells a Mexican real estate dealer (Lynton Brent) their saloon has "...gotta have class and gotta have beauty," they end up with a beauty "saloon." Undaunted, the trio try their hand at giving a customer (Dorothy Appleby) a mud pack using, natural, real mud. After chiseling the cement off her face, the boys scalp three other Mexican beauties before having their bottoms shot full of holes.

The boys are painters who run into their old friend Jerry, an insurance salesman (Lynton Brent). He promises them that if they take out a policy on Curly proving that he has gone insane, they can collect $500 a month. Moe and Larry bring Curly on a leash to the office of Dr. D. Lerious (Vernon Dent). Curly's pretending to be a hound is so over the top that the doctor declares he must operate. The Stooges flee, and hide out in the back of a dog catcher's truck and are soon infested with fleas. Dr. Lerious eventually catches up with the Stooges, and Curly is sent straight for the operating room. Eventually, the trio get away on a gurney, bump into their pal Jerry, and give him the works.

The Stooges are working as singing waiters at a restaurant and meet two doctors (Vernon Dent, John Tyrrell) who ask them to cheer up Betty Williams, a little girl who is sick from grief because her father (Ned Glass), a bank cashier, has been kidnapped while delivering $300,000 worth of bonds. After the Stooges, as little girls with blonde sausage curls, fail to cheer her up, they volunteer to find the girl's father. The doctors give them a brief description of the father (middle-aged, bald-spot, an anchor tattoo, and 5'10" in his stocking feet). He and Betty like to yodel to each other, something Curly seems rather adept at.

Joe Priggle (Joe DeRita) is an inventor staying at a rest home where he tells the story to its proprietor (Vernon Dent) his strong dislike, eggs. It all starts when he fouls up one of his inventions to a client (Emil Sitka) when he finds an egg with an address written on it, the address belongs to a single woman Florabell (Dorothy Granger). He ends up marrying her, but soon finds out that she has an obnoxious brat of a son Rudolph (Norman Ollestead). He causes nothing but trouble for Joe by shooting him in the rear end with a slingshot, a BB gun and gets blown to bits by a miniature cannon. Meanwhile, Joe is busy working on his latest invention, a state-of-the-art dishwasher. The first time he uses it, it destroys all of Florabell's fine chinaware.

At the estate of King Herman the 6⅞ (Don Brodie) (a parody of Kaiser Wilhelm II), the deposed king of Moronica, war profiteers Ixnay (Vernon Dent), Amscray (Lynton Brent) and Umpchay (previously Onay) (Bud Jamison) have decided that they have had enough of Moe Hailstone, the fascist dictator they put in power, and want to help Herman retake the throne. To this end, his daughter, the princess Gilda (Mary Ainslee), threatens to try and assassinate Hailstone using an explosive Number 13 pool ball strategically positioned in Hailstone's billiard table. The fictitious country of Moronica (or at least Moe Hailstone) seems to be familiar with a pool game in which the 13 ball is placed at the head of the rack during set up.
