The film is based on several plays by Michel Tremblay, weaving characters from the plays Les Belles-sœurs, Hosanna, La duchesse de Langeais and À toi, pour toujours, ta Marie-Lou into an original ensemble cast story.
Synopsis
L’action se déroule dans le milieu des travestis de la « Main » à Montréal. Reprenant certains personnages et les thèmes du théâtre de Tremblay, tels qu’ils étaient développés à l’époque, l’intrigue suit deux parcours parallèles. Germaine Lauzon est l’heureuse gagnante de boîtes de timbres à coller. Elle regroupe chez elle des belle-sœurs, voisines et amies pour l’aider à coller ses timbres dans les livrets. Hosanna réalise son désir fabuleux de se transformer en Cléopâtre pour un concours au cabaret de travestie qu’elle fréquente. Elle ignore qu’on lui a tendu un piège, avec la complicité de Cuirette, pour se venger d’elle et la ridiculiser. Pendant que Hosanna se fait humilier, Germaine Lauzon se fait voler ses timbres, toutes deux trahies par leurs supposées amies. Le récit concert à deux voies se présente comme une évocation noire et forte de l’impasse humaine.Actors

Court métrage de fiction qui projette dans toutes ses nuances la condition de waitress. Être fictif à qui 24 femmes et un homme (travesti) prêtent leur visage, Françoise Durocher possède à la fois les traits de la petite serveuse, de l'hôtesse et de la barmaid. Ensemble, elles donnent, selon l'auteur, une idée de la fille de table québécoise qui, tous les jours, vous sert avec le sourire malgré les ennuis inhérents à son métier et les petits drames à peu près quotidiens qu'elle affronte. Ce film est la première expérience cinématographique du tandem Brassard-Tremblay.

Emma and Marc, two young lovers, move into a house which has been uninhabited for thirty years. What they don't know is that in 1979, in a cave under the house, there was a gay disco, which burned down when a foam machine short-circuited, and five bodies were never found. On July 4th, 2005, in a fictionalized United States alternate history reality, two towns in Texas: El Paso and Abilene were destroyed by twin nuclear attacks that triggered a catastrophe of unimaginable proportions, sending America into a state of anarchy and hysteria, as well as a Third World War (a fictionalized perspective of what the War on Terror would've escalated to). The PATRIOT Act has extended authority to a new agency known as US-IDent, which keeps constant surveillance on citizens—even to the extent of censoring the Internet and requiring fingerprints to access computers and bank accounts. In response to the recent fuel shortage in the wake of global warfare, the German company Treer designs a generator of inexhaustible energy, which is propelled by the perpetual motion of ocean currents, called "Fluid Karma". However, its inventor Baron von Westphalen and his associates are hiding the fact that the generators alter the ocean's currents and cause the Earth to slow its rotation, and that the transmission of Fluid Karma to portable receivers (via quantum entanglement) is ripping holes in the fabric of space and time.

Walter Koontz (Robert De Niro) is a highly decorated "local hero" officer of the New York police department who lives in a downtown apartment complex. Despite his locale and rampant run of drag queens in his building, he tends to keep to himself and still lives a life involved with lovely women, dancing and dining. One night, he hears gunshots upstairs, and while ascending to help suffers a stroke. He awakens with the right side of his body paralyzed resulting in poor speech and posture, and giving him an unrecoverable limp that requires him to use a cane to get around.
