Paadasaram is a 1978 Indian Malayalam film, directed by AN Thampi and produced by Sivan Kunnampilly. The film stars Jose, Shobha, Raji and TG Ravi in lead roles. The film had musical score by G. Devarajan.
The film is set in an Indian village in the 1960s. The film portrays the plight of the protagonist, the youngest son of a proud Nair tharavadu, as he is trapped between the social scenario, social injustice and his own inner consciousness.

When Julie seduces Sobharaj and attempts to have the police arrest him, her plan backfires as Shobaraj outsmarts her and the police in his escape, and in the process, Julie is killed. A shattered, revenge-seeking Nisha gets trained in judo and karate, then enters Shobaraj's gang after deceiving them into thinking that she too is on the wrong side of the law. Shobaraj is impressed with her fighting skills and allows her to work for him, without realizing her true intentions.

Antony (Velichapdu or oracle) is the caretaker of the temple. The Velichapadu's wife Narayani (Kaviyoor Ponnamma) runs the household with the meager income from temple. His son Appu (Sukumaran) is educated but is unemployed as a result he loses faith in the temple and goddess. Velcihapadu's daughter Ammini helps him in temple rituals. The temple priest quits and starts a tea shop. A new priest from neighboring village Brahmadattan Nambothiri (Ravi Menon) now takes care of the temple. He is eager to get a government job as his situation at home is not good and younger sisters not yet married. He seduces Ammini, daughter of Velichapdu and leaves the village. Because of extreme poverty Velichapdu starts to beg. One day his son Appu tries to sell the holy sword to a pawn seller and Velichapadu finds it. He asks his son Appu to leave the house immediately.
