Synopsis
Jeune femme fraîchement célibataire, Sarah Francis hérite, alors qu'elle tente de remettre de l'ordre dans sa vie chaotique, de sa grand-mère un cadeau qu'elle accueille froidement : un carlin prénommé Patrick. Aussi attachant que capricieux, mais surtout mal éduqué, l'animal ajoute un peu de tumulte au quotidien morose de la pauvre Sarah. Songwriter Roger Radcliffe lives in a bachelor flat in London, along with his dalmatian, Pongo. Bored with bachelor life, Pongo decides to find a wife for Roger and a mate for himself. While watching various female dog-human pairs out the window, he spots the perfect one, a woman named Anita and her female dalmatian, Perdita. The film opens with a slight introduction from the main hero of the film, Underdog who introduces the audience to himself, his arch-nemesis Simon Barsinister, and Barsinister's henchman Cad. The film then enters into Capital City Town Hall, where a beagle on the police bomb squad sets off a false alarm after smelling a large ham (in some boxes near where the mayor was giving a speech). After being shunned by his fellow police canines, the beagle leaves in shame and is abducted off the street by Cad, who takes him to Simon's lab. Simon is bitter against the mayor, who has turned down his proposal for a type of genetic experimenting for the city, and plans to prove him wrong by testing his new serum on the beagle. However, Underdog escapes and runs amok in the lab, causing a fire and accidentally becoming exposed to a variety of DNA concoctions and chemicals that Simon developed, which modifies his DNA and gives him the strength to break through the metal door to the lab. After witnessing his work's "success" Simon is stunned when a burning monitor falls onto him, and Cad rushes to his aid.

Eddie Bob, a struggling animal trainer and widower dad, is an assistant animal trainer to Sal DeMarco, an untalented, egocentric animal show host. Both men have been hired to train the animals for a film called Frizzy, The Bichon Frise: Sal as the dog handler, and Eddie is given only the responsibility of training the lizard. When Frizzy is kidnapped, Sal quickly claims that Eddie was responsible for the dog handling. Eddie is promptly fired. The director refuses to pay the ransom and decides to instead hold auditions for the new Frizzy.

After the spectacular defeat of a fresh centurion, Caesar sends the patrician Lucullus to capture Getafix and throw him off the edge of the world. In Gaul, Unhygienix lacks fresh fish (as always), which starts a fight, spilling Getafix's magic potion. Because fresh fish is a vital ingredient thereof, Asterix and Obelix go fishing while Getafix gathers herbs, accompanied by Dogmatix. In the forest, Getafix and Dogmatix are captured by Lucullus. Aboard a Roman galley bound for the "world's edge", they pass Asterix and Obelix, who pursue them, using Obelix as an outboard motor until he is diverted by the aroma of food from a passing pirate ship, and then blown off course by a violent storm. After a long pursuit, a dolphin brings Dogmatix (whom Lucullus had dropped overboard) and guides them to the Romans. Seeing the Gauls and mistaking the North American coast for the world's edge, the Romans launch Getafix from a catapult, then return to Rome, while Asterix and Obelix make landfall. In Gaul, Caesar lays siege to their village and waits for the last of the magic potion to run out.

In Beverly Hills, California, wealthy heiress Vivian "Viv" Ashe leaves her richly pampered pet chihuahua, Chloe, with her irresponsible niece, Rachel, while she embarks on a business trip for ten days. Papi, the gardener Sam's pet Chihuahua of Mexican descent, has an unrequited crush on Chloe, by which she is disgusted. Rachel decides to go to Mexico with her friends and stay at a hotel by the beach. When Rachel leaves Chloe alone in the hotel room to go dancing at a club, Chloe goes looking for her. Chloe gets dog-napped as she tries to find Rachel and is sent to the dog fights in Mexico City. There, she meets a street-smart German Shepherd named Delgado. Rachel comes back to the hotel and is frantic when she finds Chloe missing.

Stanley Ipkiss is a shy and unlucky bank clerk working at the local Edge City bank.
